Mid-Autumn Festival Events In KL

The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Cake or Lantern Festival will be celebrated soon. While the traditions and practices differ across the region, it is all about celebrating the harvest – and apparently also the fall of Mongolian rulers in China after a successful rebellion. The story has it that moon cakes played an important role in the uprising – they were delivered into homes and contained the time of the rebellion. Moon cakes are enjoyed during this time only, and they vary from the traditional ones filled with red bean or lotus paste to the modern ones with ice cream. Lanterns are lit around the town and many condos organise lantern walks for the kids – if yours is not one of them, head out to these festivities around town:

If you’re not familiar yet with the legend of the mooncakes, come and listen to the story tellers at the Story Book in Plaza Arkadia, Desa ParkCity.
