News from EPS Sports Academy

Many of you may already know Eps Sports Academy –  formerly known as Erika Peres Soccer. The academy has recently seen some changes – more than just the name – and will be adding on to its very popular football programme with new coaches, sports and locations. This is what’s new at ESP:

In 2016, besides soccer, the academy will run Programmes in swimming, fitness and capoeira, holiday camps and sports play groups. In the future, they will offer tennis, volleyball and basketball. The academy conducts weekly classes, sports tournaments, holiday camps, intensive workshops and scouting clinics. Their philosophy is to have programmes that are structured yet fun!

All programmes for babies and children are run in small groups ensuring each child gets proper coaching and attention. Their swimming and soccer programmes are structured in a way that the parents can see the child’s progress and individual goals are set for their progress.

EPS Sports Academy hires only qualified and trained coaches. All the coaches from Brazil come armed with a Sports Science degree along with a teaching degree – compulsory for all coaches in Brazil. This means every Brazilian coach has a minimum of 6 years’ college education. The coaches have also played or competed in their sports and have many years of coaching experience before coming to Malaysia.

To encourage competitiveness and teamwork, the teams participate in external tournaments and in-house tournaments are organised regularly. For example, almost 100 children played in friendly matches at the EPS Europe Cup tournament, held in February at the Desa Park City football field. These events are great for exposing the children to the spirit of camaraderie, teamwork and self-discipline – and most importantly, for building their love of the game.

1) Soccer – programmes offered are Baby Soccer, Level 1 to Level 4 Soccer (depending on age group,) Teens Soccer and Competitive Soccer
