Ramadan bazaar in TTDI

Ramadan bazaars (or as the trendy folk seem to call them, PaRams, short for Pasar Ramadan) are a great way to get to know the best of Malaysian cooking. There are many around the city, check recommendations here and here. I visited the Bazaar in TTDI – one of the most famous.

The selection is much wider than at the normal pasar malam, and there were already tens of people queuing for the most popular stalls soon after they opened. My strategy was to try as many dishes as possible and I think I did pretty well.

The popiah above is on the list of “must try” dishes, according to the Star. Yummy!

There was a long queue to the stall selling this peculiar looking cakes – does anyone know what they are called?

Another famous dish, ayam percik was juicy and nicely spicy.

The bazaar is located just around the corner from the TTDI McDonald’s and is open from 4 pm(ish) until around 7.30 pm. It gets busy, so get there soon after it opens if you are not fond of crowds. Park a bit away from the streets immediately near the market and you will get home quicker to enjoy your dinner.
