The new action series I am currently hooked-in to, is Peaky Blinders. The story revolves around the Shelby, headed by Thomas Shelby played by 24 Days Later actor, Cillian Murphy. He is the brains behind the illegal businesses and the reason for the Shelby family's power and influence. 

Murphy's character here is that of a man who suffered so much pain that he tries to block it all by engaging his ambitions but alas he fell in love with the bar maid / double agent for the British police, named Grace, played by Annabelle Wallis. And as one might expect, the world made mentally stable usually become undone when one falls in love.
