I Can Do This!

So I am back in the saddle and currently on my second week of teaching now. It feels weird because this is a totally new experience for me. I have taught Chinese students before, but not more than two students per session. Now, I have to deal with TWENTY ONE STUDENTS all at the same time, for THREE HOURS!

Do I hate the job? No! Is it challenging and difficult? YES! My students now are all teenagers, and as if that is not difficult enough, they have gone from one teacher to another, before they were turned over to me. Discipline is nil, what's worst is that they were told that English is useless, by their own Chinese teacher.

So although I love my job, everyday I step into the classroom becomes a battle of will power. Out of twenty one, only half of them would attend my class - though that is probably a good thing - and only a handful pays attention to what I am teaching. I often feel like I am an unwanted child begging for a little time and attention.

I do not want to give up because I love this job. But, I keep praying for more strength and wisdom, more patience, and hopefully a stronger connection will be built between us, that would facilitate ease of learning.
