Dune

When I was working for the Municipal Government of Hagonoy, the Mayor's wife was very friendly with my immediate boss the Head Librarian. She would frequently visit the library and on one of those occasions I smelled a fragrance that is dry, floral, and powdery.

I couldn't contain my curiosity so I asked her what fragrance she was wearing, and she proudly showed me a bottle of Dune from the House of Christian Dior. Back then, I was not aware of any other fragrances from that house except for Poison. And I was so glad to be introduced to another of its creation.

Dune to my nose smells of floral most distinguishable to my nose are jasmine and ylang-ylang. It comes off just as its name suggest dry like the desert. It is warm with a touch of spice and woody notes too. It has good projection and longevity with the eau de toilette lasted on my skin for up to 6 to 8 hours. Though, this fragrance is from the 1990s this one is not loud fragrance, strong, yes but not in your face kind of strength.

It is funny how until now when I wear this fragrance, my mind drifts back to the days when I was working as an assistant librarian. I guess to me Dune will always be a reminder of a person, a friendly and kind woman of stature, who at one point in my life graced me with her style and led to my introduction to this fragrance.
