The Grimm - Last Season

The Grimm follows the story of Nick Berkhardt, a police detective from Portland, Oregon. He found out that he was a descendant from a long line of warrior-like individuals called Grimm.

Grimms are humans with the ability to draw out Wesen-folk through intense eye-contact. Through the ages the have accumulated knowledge, weapons, and records about the fantastic creatures that live among us.

Every Grimm keeps a record or a book about every Wesen they have either contact with and or killed. These books along with a treasure trove of different weapons were passed on to Nick Berkhardt via a trailer which he inherited from his deceased aunt. And this was how he came to know everything there is about Wesen and at times he would refer to it to solve murders that he has been investigating - often times Wesen - related.

Now, Wesens are creatures who look like humans but have the ability to shift into a mythological creature or an animal, when threatened, excited, or under stress. Each of them has a specific family for instance a Blutbad (see photo below), this type of wesen changes into a wolf-like creature with fiery red-eyes, sharp claws and teeth, and possesses strength superior than an average human.

This is Monroe, Nick's friend in Blutbad form.
Now, the Grmm was launched in 2011 and I remember thinking to myself that this show would probably be just one of those shows that I watch once and never again. But I was mistaken. After the first episode, I waited and watched the next and before I know it, I finished a season and waiting for the next.

David Guintoli plays the lead role in this TV series and I have to say that even if I have never heard of him, or any of his fellow-actors before Grimm, I have to say that he did a great job, bringing the character Nick Bernhardt to life. The whole cast, did a great job, and I guess that is what got me hooked into this show.

Sadly however, after 6 seasons it has come to an end. I have just finished watching the last episode that was aired a couple of days ago. The ending is sad because it is finished. But I am happy about the creative way things concluded. Nick Bernhardt, who faced a lot of terrible challenges, physical and emotional, in the end finally got the chance to finally live a life, that is not wesen-free but he was able to have his own family. It was touching to know on the last scene Nick's children grew - up to continue their father's legacy.
