Snack Food Tour of Southeastern Pennsylvania

Let’s face it. Food and drink cravings strike all of us. Whether you like to munch pretzels, sip a beer, crunch chips, or enjoy sweets such as ice cream and delicious chocolates, it’s fun to find out where the foods are produced. Visit southeastern Pennsylvania where you can take tours, shop, and satisfy your desire for all your faves!  Woman Around Town recently enjoyed a quick road trip and scheduled four tours to experience fun foods at their best.

Troeg’s Brewery (Hershey, Pa.) Take the “Guided Production Tour” for a great opportunity to peek behind the curtain at how Troeg’s brews, packages and ships their beer and experience a tasting.  In 2020, 2022, and 2023, readers of USA Today voted it “The Best Brewery Tour in America” and for good reason.  It’s truly fascinating and well planned. While you’re there, purchase some of their great brews and enjoy a meal in their eatery.

Hershey Chocolate World (Hershey, Pa.) Right on the premises of Hershey Park is Hershey Chocolate World. Free to visit, you can take a colorful, informative and vibrant journey on their factory ride that takes you from tropical cocoa bean to wrapped candy bar. At the end of your tour, enjoy a sweet sample. Hershey’s has a well-deserved reputation for fine chocolate.

Julius Sturgis Pretzel Bakery (Lititz, Pa.) The Julius Sturgis Pretzel Bakery is located in the heart of the Pennsylvania Dutch Country.  It is the oldest pretzel baking family in America. Tour the original pretzel bakery and get a hands-on lesson in pretzel twisting. Observe their bakers twisting old-fashioned soft pretzels by hand and shop for delicious treats. The Julius Sturgis Pretzel Bakery is a fascinating historic site, but not a working factory.

Herr’s (Nottingham, Pa.)  This tour is a must for potato chip lovers.   Learn about the history of the Herr family and experience the production of potato chips from start to finish.  Top off your visit with a taste of a freshly made chip. This is a tour that is not to be missed! You’ll also find out about the many other tasty products that Herr’s produces.

Turkey Hill Experience (Columbia, Pa.) Learn how ice cream is made, create your own virtual flavor, and taste their creamy samples along with Turkey Hill’s refreshing ice teas. You’ll enjoy every minute of the Turkey Hill Experience. It’s fun for the entire family.
