A Great Denim Dress

Denim Dress// Sneakers

I wore a Denim Dress when I was young- probably 6 years old, and I have always remembered it because I wore it so often. Did anyone else heavily favor specific pieces of clothing when they were children?

I vividly remember *loving* a yellow Power Rangers nightgown that would glow in the dark. I also loved 'board shorts'; does anyone else remember those?! I was obsessed with a pink seersucker watermelon dress where the collar was like a giant applique watermelon. I lived for the 'cheer' shorts from Limited Too, which my mom would so lovingly call 'Limited Quality.'I had a teal cami from Limited Too that had sparkles embedded in it, and I would wear it with the cheer shorts. I had a pair of Gap Kids tie-dye-ish flare jeans that I thought were the fanciest and most sophisticated thing I owned, and I always liked to pair them with my pastel yellow striped Adidas superstar sneakers.  I also remember stirrup pants with matching skirts on them- maybe Gymboree? My sister and I would match often, and we had fruit-printed overalls from the Children's Place that we wore probably too much. We also wore a lot of Talbots Kids, specifically the velvet pants and their long sleeve tops that had like a little bow or rosette at the neck. Oh, and Hartstrings! Do you all remember that one?! My sister and I did *not* like Harstrings because it was too fancy and not what everyone else was wearing. I had a patent leather Scotty dog purse that I would carry with my tartan dresses around the holidays, which I thought was so chic. I could go on and on!

I must hand it to my mom for allowing us to dress as we wanted (within reason) because some of my outfits were just... awful. She was also spot on with the nickname, Limited Quality, ha! Part of me thinks I remember all of these so well because I've always been into fashion, but another part is that I favored certain things as a child!

Maybe this is a Millennial thing, as the '90s were so denim-focused, but I will always gravitate toward a denim dress! I've collected quite a few over the years. I love that they look great with sneakers, flats, wedges, boots, etc. They're polished but casual at the same time.

Most recently, I wore this denim dress while we were in Charleston. I was torn on how to dress in a warmer climate, but it was still winter. It would be a high of 70, so I knew I'd definitely want to wear a dress, but I also didn't want to stick out like a sore thumb in a summer outfit! The denim dress was perfect. The sleeves were necessary because it was chilly in the shade, and the thicker fabric also kept me warm. I love the straight cut of the dress and the pullover style. The quality is great, especially for the under $150 price tag. It runs true to size and I am wearing a size small. I'm 5'6" and would recommend this length for my height or shorter. I think it would become too short if you were any taller! This will be something I will wear a ton here in Pittsburgh in April, May, and September, October!

For other denim dresses, I also love this one, this one, and this one

I paired the dress with these white sneakers, which have become a favorite of mine. If you have an upcoming trip where you will be doing a lot of walking, definitely consider these. They have a nice cushioned footbed with good arch support. I swear I have the highest arches, so anything overly flat hurts my feet if I'm walking 10k+ steps. My favorite part, though, is the cut around the ankle. They are so flattering. I also love the rubber toe as it adds a nice design touch but is also very functional. I have never gotten a blister in them, and there was no break-in period!
