I can't get over the fact that we are a little over a week out from Thanksgiving. I read something about the perception of time and how, as adults, we perceive time to pass faster than children because a week for an 8-year-old is a larger percentage of their lifetime than a week for a 40-year-old's lifetime. It makes sense. This is a really interesting article on how our brains perceive time. I share this because I feel that the holiday season flies by. It's full of friends, family, joy, and a full calendar, making my clock seem in hypermode. I try to savor the season. Think about savoring a sip of wine or the last bite of your fantastic meal. You take it in slowly and really think about it. Savoring moments can help to slow things down and keep you in the moment! This is going to sound so silly, but every year, I record Rudolph on cable TV. When I watch it for the season, I don't fast-forward through the commercials; I let them play out. You can stream almost anything, but the commercials force me to savor it all. Also, trying to limit phone usage at a party or event helps me stay present (and is also polite!).
I digressed there, but I soak up this time of year by dressing in festive outfits. I love tartans and red and velvet and sparkle! It's all SO fun and fabulous!

Faux Fur Trimmed Wrap
When my girlfriend got married in the winter, she gave all of us in her wedding this gorgeous wrap, which was such a beautiful gift. She's been married for over 4 years, and I still wear this wrap constantly, especially with dressy outfits. It's perfect with a cocktail dress. It's 100% wool, so it's warmer and more substantial than a cashmere wrap, and the faux fur trim adds a beautiful touch.
What I love about the holiday season is the traditions that carry through the years. When I saw this photo in color, I immediately thought it could be a photo from another time. I changed it to black and white, and I was in awe. There's no technology in this shot that dates the photo (well, the Frame TV, but you can't really tell it's a TV, especially in black and white). I also think that my vintage Henredon sideboard adds to that vintage feel. One of the things I notice in Nancy Meyers' films is that she doesn't incorporate a ton of technology imagery, which makes a lot of what she creates feel so timeless.
