It's still hot outside, I know; I get it. The last thing you want to hear about is outerwear, but when the time comes, some of these things sell out, AND I'm already excitedly brainstorming Fall outfits. It was cooler at the end of the week last week. So much so that I burned this candle on Friday. I hate that I did that, but it made me so happy! I won't burn it again unless there is another cool day (today is supposed to be back up in the high 80s), but fall is where I thrive, and I have no shame in looking forward to that. I am just not a summer gal.

Anyway, there are two outerwear items that I have owned for over 15 years now that never get old. I wear them every single fall, and they are Barbour jackets and J.Crew vests. Neither are particularly groundbreaking. I've worn both since college, and over the years, I have added more styles/colors to my closet. I now have quite the collection, but they are some of my most-worn pieces and worth a mention every year. 

I would recommend picking a neutral color like olive green, navy, brown, or black when it comes to either piece as those are what I personally reach for most, but I do love a pop of color like red, too. Both my vests and Barbour Jackets have held up perfectly over the years, and while some Barbour styles can get pricey, in my opinion, it's been worth every cent. Because I wear a coat 6 months out of the year, I'm definitely willing to splurge on coats! 

Barbour has so many styles to choose from now... some are more fashion-forward (loving this one), and they always have the classics like the Beadnell and Bedale. Other brands often make something similar every fall because of its classic and iconic look. Right now, J.Crew has a gorgeous option under $200, and there is also a good selection discounted here and here. 

While not the traditional waxed and/or quilted Barbour jackets that I am referencing in this blog post, how beautiful are this wool plaid coat and this plaid puffer?! I want both!
