Six Pairs of Shoes for the Holidays

Shop the Shoes:

Today I'm talking about six pairs of shoes that will take you through the holidays. Whether you are headed to a work Holiday luncheon or a formal ball, these shoes will get the job done. All of the shoes that I included can also be worn before and after the holidays!

I tried to highlight shoes that weren't overly crazy with glitter or plaid. Don't get me wrong, I Love a good statement shoe (share some favorites at the bottom of this post), but I think if you want to get a lot of wear (for the price) out of a shoe purchase these are the best choices!
A Pop of Color
Typically, during the holidays, I love to wear red pumps. I think even if you are wearing all black, you look more festive when rocking red pumps. These are my favorite- they come in so many colors and are affordable, too. I have several different colors and love that they are comfortable and classic.

Something Trendy
You don't have to go crazy here, but wearing something that is 'in' this season can get you excited! I got these Gucci Princetown mules last year and I wear them non-stop. They are so easy to throw on and go and would be the perfect shoe when you're out for a holiday lunch or running errands. I find them to be so simple and chic.

Comfortable Ballet Flats
Whether you are dressed up or down, having a versatile pair of ballet flats in a neutral hue is crucial to any woman's wardrobe. These are great for casual holiday get-togethers or if you live in a big city and have a lot of walking to do. I really like going with a patent finish because it feels a bit dressier or elevated than a typical leather ballet flat. The reason I love the Ferragamo Varinas is that they also have a bit of structure to them which exudes elegance! I love the touch of sparkle in this pair, don't you?
A Neutral Classic
I like to call this shoe the 'compromise' shoe. With the bit of a heel and slingback, the shoe can easily be dressed up and feel/look a lot like you're wearing heels. However, they are so much more comfortable. This is the type of shoe you can always depend on and will pair with pretty much anything in your closet. You can rock these to your work holiday lunch and then seamlessly transition to drinks/dinner after work. Here's a higher heel option if you dare!
Classic Black Pump
Whether it's patent or suede, 2" or 5", a plain black pump is a classic wardrobe staple and there is no better time to bring them out than during the holiday season! Since this is a shoe you most likely wear a ton, I suggest splurging. My favorite pair is the Licorice pump. It's pricey, but it looks even pricier! Not to mention, they're so comfortable. I have had mine for years and wear them so often. I'm able to wear them throughout an entire wedding, dancing and all and my feet don't hurt!

Comfortable Loafer
When you think of holidays, you think of high heels and sparkle, right? Well, in my experience, there is also a lot of time spent traveling and time spent lounging around with friends and family. In this case, a comfortable pair of shoes is a must. I have Tod's Gommini moccasins and they are one of my the most comfortable pair of shoes I own. I got them in orange because I love the pop of color it adds to a basic outfit, but I also think a neutral would be a good addition, too! I also think they look beautiful whether you're throwing them on as slippers on Christmas morning or pairing them with a nice pair of jeans and a blazer for a casual holiday party. And I especially love them for traveling since they have a good grip on the soles which make it really easy to get moving in places like the airport!
Now that I've covered my top six favorites, I'll share a few of the fun statement shoes available at Nordstrom (in the widget above). They have such a good selection, especially around the holidays. Plus their free shipping and returns makes it all too easy to order several pairs ;) Thank you to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post. As always, all opinions are my own.
