In this futuristic thriller, Simms, a famous head hunter, seeks and finds the DNA of dead people.
It’s the 22nd century and people have brain plugins inside their heads, communicate with one another via pings (telepathic communication), and are literally interconnected via the worldwide web. They even get paid via their brain plugins. People travel city to city and country to country via jump nodes (teleportation).
Simms, officially known as a DNA detective, inofficially known as a “hunter”, is hired by agencies which deal directly with wealthy DNA collectors. The DNA is collected from people whose remains are preserved in clinics that promise eternal life. There are private collections of cloned celebrities and politicians, the wealthy collectors’ “private zoos”.
Overall, a truly enjoyable read due to Simms being a common sense character with a dash of cynicism mixed into it.
