What to buy and not buy in February

February is a month of possibilities for sales: Some for Valentine’s Day and some for Presidents’ Day.

Here are some ideas on what to look for from Dealnews.com:

Valentine’s Day

It’s likely that you’ll find some Valentine’s Day sales. Look for bargains such as 30 percent off on candy.

President’s Day sales

The other big shopping opportunity in February is Presidents' Day sales. This year it’s on February 20, and you’ll likely to be able to save on some big-ticket items, including computers, major appliances, furniture, and mattresses. But you may be able to save on smaller items, too. These could range from Clothing and small kitchen appliances to a range of electronics, including accessories.

Winter clothing

Discounts on winter clothing are likely to continue as retailers make room for spring apparel. Examples include vests, jackets, jeans, coats, lounge pants, casual pants, sweatshirts, and hoodies.

Outdoor items

They’re a maybe. Compare prices on patio furniture and grills.

TVs

There’s a bigger selection during Black Friday sales, but February – before the Super Bowl Feb. 12 – isn’t the worst time, either. Compare prices to check it out.

What not to buy in February

Luggage

March is a better time to buy luggage as it’s often on sale then. Check department stores and brands such as Samsonite.

Spring clothing

It’s just starting to hit the shelves so April and May are better times to look for deals.

Android phones

The larger brands come out the first six months of the year while others are announced as late as October. Prime Day in July or Black Friday in November will likely have the best deals.

Best wishes with your shopping. If you’re like me, there’s nothing better than finding a bargain at a sale. I found several goodies at the after Christmas sales.
