Facts and figures for July 4th 2022

On the 4th of July, Americans typically celebrate the anniversary of their independence with parades, fireworks displays, family gatherings, beach trips, and more. Celebrations during the past two years have been dampened due to the covid-19 pandemic. However, this year the country has few restrictions so celebrations are picking up.

However, two-thirds of Americans will spend less money on July 4th this year than they did last year, according to a WalletHub survey. A reason for this decrease is rising inflation, which is causing Americans to make fewer non-essential purchases related to the holiday and to travel less.
