Video Clip of The Week: Vellocet,”Better Days”

I think it can be agreed upon that this has been an especially tough period of Mercury in Retrograde — with this past week being particularly brutal — so perhaps we can all relate to the sentiment expressed in this weeks Video Clip, “Better Days” by Brighton, UK-based rock band Vellocet, who definitely have their song-crafting skills nailed down.

While visually, its gorgeous footage of the English coastline  and rolling green fields would be right at home in a commercial for mood-enhancing pharmaceuticals (which is not inappropriate, considering the lyrical subject matter), we also love the footage of the group performing in a church. Because, this song is fucking righteous! “Better Days”  is an energetic, inspiring rock anthem that successfully marries melodic pop sensibilities with propulsive drumming and vibrant, chiming guitars to conjure the post-punk urgency of  bands like Wire Train. Yeah, pretty great.

If  you happen to be in the neighborhood, Vellocet are hosting the official release event for “Better Days” underneath Brighton Railway Station at The Green Door Store on the 19th of September, which is tomorrow. There is little doubt that the band kick some ass live. Like them on the FaceBook at This Link. Enjoy!
