Love of Neighbor and the Homosexual Person

DeoOmnisGloria.com: Love of Neighbor and the Homosexual Person:

In our modern society, we are continually urged to “accept” as normal the homosexual person. We are told to “stop judging" them. Any suggestion that active homosexuality is gravely immoral is quickly condemned and ridiculed. We are encouraged to get with the times ... to embrace same-sex marriages, to approve health insurance benefits for homosexual partners, and to allow homosexual persons to adopt children. So what is a Catholic to do? What does Christ desire of us? How do we, as Catholics, love our homosexual neighbor?
Here's Joe's take on the complex subject of faith and homosexuality. Joe, who's been Catholic his entire life, is to be commended for approaching the problem with grace and gentleness. I do wonder, though, if he's looking at this issue through very heavily tinted rose-colored glasses. Given the problems within the Catholic Church, it's hard to imagine anyone being able to stand by Church dictates without flinching just a little. I would. In fact, I do though it's the Evangelical church that makes me flinch. And, as for what it says in the Bible, I wonder about that too. Most of us who've studied the Bible in any detail know how many interpretations you can get from one passage of scripture. Some of us seem to read things as if they've been carved in stone, but that just isn't so.

I can't be as serenely certain as Joe is.
