8 Mom and Baby Halloween Costume Ideas

Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve always loved Halloween. It’s never been about the candy or the decor for me. It has always been about dressing up. Needless to say, I could not wait until October came along for my first holiday with my baby boy. I honestly could have thought of 20 mom and baby Halloween Costume ideas. But here are eight cute costumes to wear with your son. And since I’m a single mom to a baby boy and two pups, all these costumes easily work for human and fur babies.

Curious George and The (Wo)Man in the Yellow Hat Costume

Didn’t you just love Curious George as a kid? I know I did! This is such a simple parent and baby Halloween outfit idea. There are tons of baby monkey costumes. I ordered a bunch and found this one to be the softest for my son (it comes with monkey feet but he was getting a little hot). Then all you need is a yellow hat and a yellow dress or shirt for yourself.

Safari Guide and Safari Animals Costume

My son has neutral safari themed nursery. So it made me think that safari animals would be so cute for him and his furry brothers for Halloween. Instead of a traditional Halloween Costume, I ordered him a giraffe onesie that he can wear in the winter. Then I ordered wild animal outfits for my dogs and my mom’s dog. As for me? I had all these items in my closet! All you really need is a utility jacket, neutral pants and a hat to be a safari guide.

Princess and the Pea costume

We called Preston baby P when he was in my belly. So it’s very fitting for him to a be a pea! His costume is so cuddly and comfortable. As for the princess? I found this super affordable tiara online that looks way more expensive than it is. And this costume is a great excuse to get some wear out of those evening gowns sitting in the back of your closet! If you don’t have any, I put some princess gown options below:

farmer and farm animals costume

This is an easy group Halloween costume idea for adults, kids, babies and animals! There are so much cute animal costumes online (I put some below that I both used and others that I love). Instead of a costume, I actually got Preston a bear onesie that he can wear all winter. And I turned it into a bunny costume but adding by brown rabbit ears from my last minute dust bunny costume from a few years back. And you probably have a plaid shirt, jeans and a hat in your closet already!

Astronaut and Galaxy costume

I had this star dress from my maternity shoot (it’s on major sale now!). So I DIY-ed a moon headband (keep scrolling to see how). You can also buy one, of course. And I turned into a galaxy with my little astronaut!

frida and her monkeys costume

I’ve dressed up as Frida before. It’s a pretty easy Halloween costume. You just pile on colorful pieces in your closet, lots of jewelry, red lips and a flower crown (I made mine with real flowers but I included some pre-made ones below). To make it a mommy and me costume, you just get monkey ears for your baby and/or dog. The canvas is actually a teether toy!

Cow jumped over the moon costume

I’ve been reading Goodnight Moon to my son every night since he was a newborn. So for our first Halloween together, I wanted a meaningful costume idea. That’s how I thought of the cow jumped over the moon. He’s wearing a cow print pajama with a hat I DIYed from a dog cow costume. But there a plenty of cute baby cow costumes. I DIYed this moon headband but you can easily buy one as well!

Royalty Costume

This is a super fashionable Halloween costume that doesn’t require much! Simply use a gown you have in your closet (if you want a new one I shared my tulle dress below), order a tiara for yourself and a crown and cloak for your baby or pup!

I hope you liked these mom and baby costume ideas!
