Baby Shower at the Beach in Santa Monica

When my best friend Michelle told me she was hosting a Baby Shower for me, she said we’re doing it by the beach. My bestie knows me so well. The only place I can relax is by the ocean! And given baby P will be a Pisces just like me, a baby shower at the beach made sense. The only problem? The weather in January in Los Angeles. Sometimes it can be beautiful and sunny… other times not so much. So we decided to have the shower inside with a beach view at Hotel Casa del Mar. It was the perfect location, especially that day. It rained all weekend. But we stayed cozy inside watching the waves crash as we laughed and celebrated baby.

the decor

The beautiful space at Terrazza set the tone for the baby shower decor. We actually had a private space at Catch, which is the adjacent restaurant. They both have the stunning views of Santa Monica beach. Michelle, knowing yellow flowers are my favorite, had mini arrangements with lemons created by Pigsty lining our long table. And Elizabeth, who co-hosted the shower, brought the vibes of the sand and the ocean inside with beautiful balloon towers.

the sweets

Can we talk about the cutest baby shower cake ever? I absolutely loved the two-tier teddy bear cake. Unlike most pretty cakes, this one tasted just as good as it looked. It was lemon flavored to go with the decor. There were also cupcakes and cookies for guests to take home with them.

the food

Michelle went to lunch at Terrazza before the shower for a tasting. She insisted the shrimp avocado toast and fish tacos were a must. And man was she right! She customized a menu with brunch and lunch options for guests to choose from.

the games

We had so many fun games at the shower:

  • Don’t Say Baby: When guests walked in they were given a clothespin. Every time you heard some say “baby” you could take their pin. Whoever had the most pins at the end of the shower won a prize
  • Who’s That Baby?: Guests sent Michelle their baby photos before the shower. We had to match the baby pics with the adult ones. It was so much fun!
  • My Water Broke: When we sat down, we were all given an ice cube with a little baby inside. Whoever got their water to break first won. I tried to keep mine in tact. I didn’t want to manifest early labor!
  • Name That Baby Tune: Elizabeth created a playlist with a bunch of song that had the word “baby,” everything from Mariah Carey to Diana Ross. She played snippets and we had to guess the singer and song name.

the guests

The best part of my shower? The people! We kept it intimate so I could really have time with my beautiful family and friends. I’m so grateful for each and every one them.

the outfit

Because of everything going on, I didn’t have time to plan a baby shower outfit. I literally picked this out the day before! I had gotten this one-shoulder dress last May for a trip to San Diego. I never got a chance to wear it and it was just sitting in my closet waiting for a special occasion. So I had it make its debut at my baby shower. The breezy A-line shape allowed me to be super comfortable while still feeling very glam.

It was such a beautiful day that I’ll never forget. You can see a video of my baby shower over on Instagram. Thank you to everyone who made me feel so special and loved!
