May National Days Calendar to Celebrate at Home

I cannot believe it’s already May. I remember back in March when I sat down to create my April National Day Calendar. I felt silly going through the whole month because I thought there was no way we’d be on lockdown for so long. Fast forward to six weeks later and the stay at home order is still going strong.

I know most of us are going pretty stir-crazy right now. So I hope this calendar can bring you a little joy. Even amidst a pandemic, there are reasons to celebrate every day. Jack Jack and I have been going on the balcony at 8pm and clapping with our community as West Hollywood thanks our health heroes. Considering today is no pants day, I guess we’ll clapping in our undies tonight!

May National Days Calendar

MAY 1: NATIONAL NO PANTS DAY

This one is easy to celebrate at home! Throw on your fave oversize shirt and go sans pants for the day! I actually celebrated this holiday earlier in the week with a Breakfast at Tiffany’s themed Zoom happy hour with my girls. We all threw on oversize white button-downs, sleep masks as headbands and tassel earrings and pretended we were Audrey Hepburn as Holly GoLighlty.

MAY 2: NATIONAL FITNESS DAY

I’m not going to lie. Fitness has been hard for me at home. But there are a ton of at-home workouts you can stream. The one thing that does help me workout at home? Cute workout sets! Here are some of my faves:

MAY 3: NATIONAL TWO DIFFERENT COLOR SHOES DAY

I thought this would be a fun one to celebrate! We may not be leaving the house but we can walk around in two different color shoes (or slippers!) all day. I have these pointy pumps in multiple colors (a bunch of colors are on sale right now, too). I plan on mixing and matching my shoes. It’s also National Lemonade Day so maybe I’ll sip some lemonade in my two different color shoes, Punky Brewster style.

MAY 4: NATIONAL STAR WARS DAY

I’m embarrassed to admit but I’ve never seen Star Wars. I could lie and say the quarantine will make me sit down and watch the movies but I have zero interest. But if you’re a Star Wars fan, may the fourth be with you.

MAY 5: CINCO DE MAYO

I celebrated this one early with my family down in San Diego. We had a stay at home Mexican fiesta with the dogs! Since I’ll be by myself in LA, I plan on ordering takeout from my favorite local Mexican restaurant.

MAY 6: NATIONAL NURSES DAY

This holiday couldn’t be more important this year! I just want to send a huge thank you to all the nurses in the world that are going to work every day to care for those affected by the pandemic.

MAY 7: NATIONAL TOURISM DAY

Elizabeth and I had so much doing a virtual trip around the world last month for travel day that we’re going to do it again in May for tourism day! Join us on 5/7 over on Instagram as we share our favorite travel destinations and re-post yours as well on our Insta Stories! It also happens to be National Cosmopolitan Day. So we’ll be mixing up cocktails as we tour the world on Insta!

MAY 8: NATIONAL HAVE A COKE DAY

I don’t drink Coke but I have quite the Diet Coke addiction. If you’re not into soft drinks, it’s also National No Socks Day. Going barefoot inside shouldn’t be a problem!

MAY 9: NATIONAL LOST SOCK MEMORIAL DAY

Speaking of socks, why does the dryer always eat socks?! It’s an age-old question. And on 5/9 you can show those lost socks some love by wearing two different lost ones.

MAY 10: MOTHER’S DAY

I’m sad I won’t be able to be with my mom on Mother’s Day this year. But I got to spend over four weeks with her during the quarantine. So we just called it Mother’s Month. Love you mom!

MAY 11: NATIONAL EAT WHAT YOU WANT DAY

Have you been eating healthy during the quarantine? Well 5/11 is the perfect excuse for a cheat day! I plan on ordering something naughty from a local restaurant.

MAY 12: NATIONAL NUTTY FUDGE DAY

Speaking of indulging, why not whip something yummy up in the kitchen? Here’s an easy 4 ingredient walnut fudge recipe.

MAY 13: NATIONAL APPLE PIE DAY

Keeping to the desert theme, I know my stepdad is excited about this holiday. He’s a huge pie guy! I’m not that into pie, but this easy apple pie parfait recipe sounds pretty delicious!

MAY 14: NATIONAL DANCE LIKE A CHICKEN DAY

Are you on TikTok? I’m not really active there but I did see there’s a whole chicken dance challenge. It’s time to get silly!

MAY 15: NATIONAL PIZZA PARTY DAY

Ok, let’s get back to food and have a pizza party! I can’t wait to cheat on my no-dairy diet and order some pizza for a virtual pizza party with my girls. It also happens to be National Chocolate Chip Day if you feel like having some cookies for desert!

MAY 16: NATIONAL MIMOSA DAY

Funny fact: I order my mimosas without OJ. I often get funny looks from the waiter and they tend to ask, “so just to confirm, you mean you want a glass of champagne?”. I nod my head yes. I just love orange juice so prefer to keep the beverages separate. Not a big drinker? It’s also National BBQ Day.

MAY 17: NATIONAL CHERRY COBBLER DAY

May has a lot of food holidays. Here’s an easy cherry cobbler recipe.

MAY 18: NATIONAL NO DIRTY DISHES DAY

With all the cooking you’re going to do in May, those dishes are going to pile up! No Dirty Dishes Day is the perfect reminder to clean up your kitchen!

MAY 19: NATIONAL DINOSAUR DAY

Dinosaur Day isn’t just for the kiddos. There are so many cute dinosaur themed fashion pieces! I’m in love with this dinosaur button cardigan! It could also be a great night to watch Jurassic Park.

MAY 20: NATIONAL RESCUE DOG DAY

I celebrate this day every day! Here’s the story behind my rescue dog, Jack Jack.

MAY 21: NATIONAL STRAWBERRIES AND CREAM DAY

Finally, a no bake food holiday! I can’t wait to eat strawberries with whipped cream!

MAY 22: NATIONAL WIG OUT DAY

Ever want to be a redhead? Now is your chance! You can order an inexpensive wig and wig out for the day. It’s also National Solitaire Day if you want to play a game in your wig.

Shop Inexpensive Wigs

MAY 23: NATIONAL LUCKY PENNY DAY

Find a penny pick it up and all day long you’ll have good luck! Well, we probably shouldn’t be picking up anything off the ground these days. But maybe this would be a good excuse to buy a penny game?

MAY 24: NATIONAL BROTHER’S DAY

If you have a brother, make sure to give him a call on 5/24. I only have furry brothers, Paws Reports. Maybe my mom will do a FaceTime with Teddy and Titus for me.

MAY 25: MEMORIAL DAY

Memorial Day will certainly be different this year. But it also happens to be National Wine Day. So even if you can’t attend a big BBQ with family and friends, you can definitely wear something patriotic and cheers over Zoom!

MAY 26: NATIONAL PAPER AIRPLANE DAY

This is a cute holiday for kids. But I thought of a fun idea for adults: if you live in an apartment building write a nice note or inspiring quote for your neighbor. Fold the paper into an airplane and fly it through their window?!

MAY 27: NATIONAL SUNSCREEN DAY

Every day should be sunscreen day in my opinion. Even if I’m only stepping outside for a minute, I always put on SPF.

Shop My Fave Face Sunscreens

MAY 28: NATIONAL HAMBURGER DAY

More food! I don’t eat meat but I could go for an Impossible burger!

MAY 29: NATIONAL BISCUIT DAY

And even more food! Biscuits and gray anyone?

MAY 30: NATIONAL CREATIVITY DAY

I’ve been getting my creative juices flowing during the quarantine. Sketching has been one of my favorite activities! I did a whole post on how to get artistic during the quarantine.

MAY 31: NATIONAL MEDITATION & SMILE DAY

I’ve been trying to mediate during the quarantine but I’ve always had such a hard time. I need to refer back to the meditation tips I learned from Yoga Girl. But National Smile Day? That’s something I can definitely do… and try to do every day.

I hope this post was fun for you! I’ll be sharing the days I’m celebrating over on Instagram.
If you celebrate any, tag me and I’ll share on my Insta Stories!
