Lara Dutta says she bashed up a man who pinched her during Andaaz promotions, Akshay Kumar came to rescue

Lara Dutta recalled an incident in which she was pinched by a man at Chandni Chowk in Delhi while promoting her debut film Andaaz in a recent interview. The actress and former Miss Universe Lara Dutta has always taken a stand against people who treat her unfairly. In a Hautterfly interview, she described how, back in 2003, while promoting her first movie, Andaaz, she physically assaulted a man who was pinching her. (Lara Dutta – Andaaz)

Lara Dutta Recounts the Incident

Naturally, I’ve dealt with a number of eve-teasing situations and have also discussed them. I went to Rhythm House at Chandni Chowk in Delhi with Priyanka Chopra, Akshay Kumar, and myself at the music release of my first film, Andaaz. My attire was a sari. A sizable throng burst into applause as we attempted to enter Rhythm House because Akshay Kumar was there and Miss Universe and Miss World (Priyanka) were making their on-screen debuts. I was pinched by someone, then.

I pulled him out after realizing something wasn’t right, and possibly because of my army experience, he fell to the road. However, I severely beat him while wearing a sari. When Akshay realized how scared he was, he drew me aside and asked, “What are you doing?” You are now an actor. You can’t be working on this all the time (laughs),” Lara recalled.

Upcoming Projects

Lara plays a power broker in her new television series Ranneeti: Balakot & Beyond, exploring the complexities of contemporary conflict and geopolitical processes. Under the direction of Santosh Singh, the series reveals little-known details of a significant defensive operation and sheds light on the fusion of conventional and modern military strategies.

The series stars Ashish Vidyarthi, Ashutosh Rana, and Jimmy Shergill among its outstanding ensemble cast. In addition to Ranneeti: Balakot & Beyond, Lara Dutta is working on a number of intriguing projects, such as Suryast, Ramayana, and Welcome To The Jungle. In Nitesh Tiwari’s adaption of the epic, which also stars Ranbir Kapoor and Arun Govil, she will reportedly play Kaikeyi, King Dasharatha’s cunning wife. She will return with her first co-star Akshay in Welcome Back.
