Negative People, Negative Thoughts, our Negative Attitudes

It is time to stop beating yourself up and belittling yourself. You can have victory in your “thought life” and attitudes. We all have that little voice in our heads that loves to criticize and put us down. It can be so easy to listen to that voice and let it control our thoughts and actions, but it’s time to get victory over the noise.

Negative people and Negative thoughts are toxic. Constant self-criticism and negativity will destroy you. We will learn how to live in victory that all believers have in Jesus Christ.

You are in control of your thoughts. What you think will come out in how you feel, your attitudes, and how you treat people.

Negativity

  • spreads pessimism and dissatisfaction.

  • is contagious.

  • leaves us feeling exhausted, stressed, and depleted.

  • destroys our confidence.

  • causes us to live in doubt.

  • makes it difficult for us to see opportunities and possibilities.

  • makes us stay in our comfort zone, even if we are miserable.

  • robs us of the desire to pursue our goals and aspirations.

  • affects our emotions.

  • causes us to sabotage ourselves.

  • leaves us hopeless, helpless, and in despair.

  • causes us to make poor decisions.

  • destroys our relationships because of miscommunication and tension.

  • causes health problems from heart disease, high blood pressure, and immune system dysfunction.

Overcoming Negativity

We must take action to overcome all this negativity. Here are a few items to consider as you seek victory.

Replace the lie with the truth.

Get into the Bible. Read, meditate, and put into practice what you read. Believe what God says about you. Take out the Negative Thoughts and replace them with Truth.

Get around the right people.

Find a church filled with people who will love you like you are and lift you by that love. A group of people that will inspire and encourage you. Stay away from those that beat you down every day.

Practice gratitude

Focus on what you are thankful for and cultivate a mindset of appreciation.

Stay away from the negative.

That may mean turning off the news, social media, and environments that perpetuate the negative, that may include family and friends. Possibly, you need to limit your time with them.

Pay attention to your thoughts and emotions.

When you feel the lie gaining control, you need to actively search for the truth. Be on guard for the lie and ready to respond with the truth.

Keep your shield lifted high.

No one wants you discouraged and bitter more than the devil—the shield of faith bases itself in the Word of God, truth. So when the lies come flying like fiery darts, lift your shield.

Set boundaries to avoid what and who you know will pull you down.

Focus on the solution, not the problem.

It is more about saying yes to Jesus than no to sin. Turn your back on sin and face the Savior.

Talk to your pastor

or other spiritual leader, who can help you learn truths you can use to fight the devil.

Listen to good music

that will lift your spirits and communicate the truth to your heart. Listen to the right podcasts, read the right books, and soak yourself in the truth that encourages you.

Know

that as you stand in the truth every day, this strengthens you against the lies and doubts that attack you.

Memorize

and repeat the truth to yourself. Find good Bible verses you need to make a part of your DNA and make them soak into you to the core till they affect who you are.

Forgive others.

Let go of grudges and resentments to free yourself from the burden of negativity. That root of bitterness will spring up and contaminate you and everyone around you.

Get busy.

Focus on work, hobbies, family, and friends, and quit living in isolation. When you think poorly of yourself, you pull away. That is the worst thing you can do.

Leave the past in the past.

Don’t let yesterday destroy today.

Get out and go for a walk.

Take the time to enjoy God’s creation.

Help others.

Be a blessing, and you will get a blessing.

Work on personal growth.

Always be improving yourself.

Get the right friends,

but know that loyal friends are few and far between. Find people who will love you in the good and the bad. Find friends who will not walk out on you.

Accept that God

is at work in your life and that bad things might happen. Even in the bad things, He is going to take you through, He will use it for good in your life.

See how far you have come, not how far you still have to go.

Set goals

and take daily action to achieve them. Remember, it is like building with Legos. It will not be fast or noticeable, but if you stay at it, you will make an impressive creation.

So, surround yourself with truth

and positive influences. Look for people who will guide and support you on the journey. Watch and pray, so keep your eyes open for the negative influences and be ready for them; stay away from the places that pull you down. Be grateful for all that God is doing in your life.

You can have the victory. You can live blessed, not stressed. There is hope, so don’t give up.
