Lawyers Teaching Young People About Consent

Of all the speakers and topics discussed at the three- day “Your First Million Live” conference last week, the “Schools Consent Project” was the one topic I knew I had to write about on this blog and do my part to help spread awareness of the organization wherever I can.

“Schools Consent Project” quite simply is an educational workshop that has lawyers in connection with schools attempting to “normalize conversations about consent in order to encourage safe healthy interactions and reduce the likelihood of young people experiencing or perpetrating sexual harm.” -Schoolsconsentproject.com.

The organization began in the UK and has had tremendous success. In 2023 the Schools Consent Project has come to the US with a program being developed in New York City. I would hope this is something adopted by schools nationwide.

If you work at a school, if you are a lawyer or simply want to donate money or volunteer to help this organization get its message out in the United States, please go to the Schools Consent Project website and get involved.  Stopping sexual violence wherever and whenever we can is the responsibility of ALL of US.
