Brooklyn Neighbourhood Gowanus Transforming With New Developments.

The Gowanus neighborhood in New York City is experiencing a surge in real estate Development, with numerous residential projects either in progress or in the planning phases. Among the notable developments in Brooklyn is the mixed-use project located at 313-315 Bond Street, ranked among the top five projects in the borough. Anticipated for completion by the fall of 2025, this endeavor encompasses two towers, 298 condominiums, and 51,000 square feet of commercial space.

Another significant project is the construction of a 14-story building at 335 Bond Street, set to be finalized by the summer of 2025. This structure will consist of 73 units and a blend of manufacturing and commercial spaces. Meanwhile, at 499 President Street, an eight-story building is currently underway, featuring 350 rental units. Of these, 25 percent will be designated as affordable housing, along with 20,000 square feet of retail space. Completion is projected for February 2025.

Further contributing to the neighborhood’s transformation is a nine-story building at 585 Union Street, expected to be completed by the spring of 2025. This 95-foot-tall structure will comprise 214 rental units, with 25 percent designated as affordable housing, as well as 8,900 square feet of commercial space.

Additionally, the renowned Brooklyn architecture firm, Bjarke Ingels Group, has unveiled designs for a 20-story mixed-use building at 175 3rd Street. While awaiting the issuance of a building permit, this project is planned to incorporate 375 apartments, retail spaces, pedestrian pathways, green areas, canal access, educational offerings, and co-working office spaces.

In tandem with this real estate development boom, Gowanus is set to welcome back a range of family-oriented amenities. These include the Gotham Gymnastics Center, Brooklyn Force Soccer Studio, Brooklyn Ninja Academy, Playwell Brooklyn indoor playspace, The Cliffs Climbing Center, Goldfish Swim School, and Brooklyn Boulders. After undergoing renovations, these facilities are expected to reopen in November.
