Purito Deep Sea Water Cream Review: Verdict

Purito Deep Sea Water Cream Ingredients

Until we began our major skincare group test, we hadn’t heard of Purito.

Despite the fact it’s huge in Korea and has become increasingly popular in the UK since it first launched in 2014.

The reason it’s so well thought-of is that it was an early pioneer of clean, vegan, cruelty-free, and sustainable skincare.

As a result, it focuses on minimalist, gentle and natural formulas and its entire range is free from harsh chemicals, artificial fragrances, or additives that can cause irritation, redness, and all kinds of other skin problems.

Its mission is to help people find their “inner green” and this is based on the philosophy that in the same way “healthy plants grow from robust roots,” a person’s beauty glows from their “inner green.”

The brand is probably best known for Centella Green Level Unscented Sunscreen, and Snail Repair Advanced Serum.

Yet there’s one product that has seemingly gone under the radar – the Purito Deep Sea Water Cream.

While it’s still a popular product, it doesn’t seem to attract the same level of attention as other products in the range.

As our Purito Deep Sea Water Cream review reveals, however, people are sleeping on an absolutely game-changing moisturiser. In fact, we’d go as far as to say it’s the best moisturiser we’ve ever tried. Keep reading to find out why.

Purito Deep Sea Water Cream Review

The Purito Deep Sea Water Cream is a lightweight cream formulated with 60% of deep sea water. This means it’s suitable for all skin types, including oily

The Purito Deep Sea Water Cream sits alone in the wider Purito range. There are other products that use seawater, or are marketed on their water content. There are also other moisturisers in the range that rely on other key ingredients, but none directly compare with the Deep Sea Water Cream.

The most like-for-like products include the following. We’ve highlighted which skin type these creams are best suited to.

  • Purito Deep Sea Water Cream: A lightweight cream formulated with 60% of deep sea water – best for all skin types, including oily
  • Purito B5 Panthenol Re-barrier Cream: A thicker cream with 10% Panthenol that nourishes the skin as well as protects and strengthens the skin barrier – best for damaged skin
  • Purito Centella Unscented Recovery Cream: This cream uses Centella Asiatica extract to soothe and relieve irritated skin, eczema, and other dry skin conditions – best for dry skin
  • Purito Oat-in Calming Gel Cream: A gel-cream that uses oat seed water to calm sensitive skin – best for sensitive skin
You can also buy Aveeno Calm and Restore facial wipes but these aren’t seemingly available everywhere.

How we tested the Purito Deep Sea Water Cream

We spent six weeks putting this moisturiser to the test as part of our Purito Deep Sea Water Cream review.

Throughout this period, we applied it morning and night. In the morning, we put it on after our cleanser, toner, and serums. We then followed up with our favourite sunscreen for face, the Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Gel. In the evening, we used it as the final step in our skincare routine.

Throughout the testing period, we noted how well the cream reduced redness, and texture; if it helped balance our skin type, and if it caused breakouts or similar.

How to use Purito Deep Sea Water Cream

The Deep Sea Water Cream has a lightweight formula and a little goes a long way. We recommend starting with a grape-sized amount to cover your face and neck. You can then apply extra to any dry patches you may have.

The steps we follow are then as follows:

  • Cleanse your face
  • Removing any leftover cleanser and makeup using a hydrating toner
  • Apply any serums and treatments
  • While your skin is still damp, squeeze a small amount of the Deep Sea Water Cream into your palm.
  • Rub the moisturiser between your hands before massaging it across your face and neck in circular motions.
  • Keep massaging the cream until it’s absorbed (it shouldn’t take long) and then add any extra product to your face as and where it’s needed.

This moisturiser has an almost gel-like texture when you start massaging it into the skin and this means it’s lightweight, absorbs easily and doesn’t leave your skin feeling greasy. Even hours after application

This moisturiser has an almost gel-like texture when you start massaging it into the skin and this means it’s lightweight, absorbs easily and doesn’t leave your skin feeling greasy. Even hours after application.

In our hydration test, the Purito cream increased our skin’s moisture levels by an almost unprecedented 13.2 points on our hydration metre. This is a rise of 35% in just five minutes. This hydration did drop slightly after an hour, by 1.3 points but this still gave a total rise of 11.9 points (32.7%).

That’s the highest increase of any skincare product we’ve ever used, including pure hyaluronic acid and serums that market themselves on flooding the skin with hydration.

We also saw similarly impressive results with regular use. We have combination/oily skin and by mid-afternoon, our skin usually starts looking and feeling shiny and heavy. After about two weeks of using the Purito Deep Sea Water Cream, our skin was noticeably less shiny and oily and felt much more balanced.

There’s a myth that you don’t need to moisturise oily skin. This couldn’t be further from the truth; in fact not hydrating oily skin enough can cause it to overcompensate and become worse. You just need to make sure you’re using the right products to bring this hydration, like the Purito Deep Sea Water Cream.

Elsewhere, all redness and irritation that tends to appear on the edges of our cheeks and sides of our faces vanished. It even made a noticeable dent in our fine lines and wrinkles. This is likely because our skin is hydrated and plump – as opposed to the fact this moisturiser can treat the signs of ageing – but we’ll take it, whatever the reason!

@victoria_woolly_web BLOWN AWAY. @purito_official has done something I didn’t think was possible. It has usurped the Simple Daily Hydrating Light Moisturiser from the top of my best moisturiser list. Purito Deep Sea Water Cream Formula

Purito claims that the seawater used for its Deep Sea Water Cream comes from 605 metres below sea level in the northernmost part of the Korean East Sea. It’s rich in essential minerals and helps replenish moisture levels and provide deep hydration

The Purito Deep Sea Water Cream is absolutely packed full of the most popular, and well-regarded skincare ingredients. These include:

  • Deep Seawater: Purito claims that the seawater used for its Deep Sea Water Cream comes from 605 metres below sea level in the northernmost part of the Korean East Sea. It’s rich in essential minerals and helps replenish moisture levels and provide deep hydration.
  • Hyaluronic Acid: To then get the full benefits of the seawater, this cream contains hyaluronic acid – or more specifically, sodium hyaluronate which is the sodium form of the acid. Hyaluronic acid is what’s known as a humectant. This means it attracts and keeps hold of moisture, which helps to improve its elasticity and smoothness.
  • Glycerin: Glycerin is another humectant found naturally in the skin and helps to ramp up the hydration and moisturisation effect of the Deep Sea Water Cream.
  • Panthenol: Another humectant that helps draw moisture into the lower layers of the skin and provides hydration that lasts.
  • Niacinamide: This superstar ingredient helps improve the look and feel of the skin. Niacinamide can help address hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone, and dull skin.

The Deep Sea Water Cream also contains a unique Marine Complex that is a blend of Glasswort, Sea Grapes, and Kelp. This complex helps further nourish the skin, leaving it supple and smooth.

There is one ingredient, called Sorbitan Oleate, that has been linked with causing breakouts.

However, the risk is relatively low and we’ve never experienced any breakouts while using this product. On the contrary, our adult acne looks better han it ever has so we’re happy to recommend this cream to people with oily, acne-prone skin. Just make sure you use it sparingly or introduce this cream gradually if you’re worried.

Purito Deep Sea Water Cream Review: Verdict

We’ve spent years testing various skincare products, from serums to moisturisers, sunscreens and more. This means it’s rare that a product wows us. The Purito Deep Sea Water Cream is an exception.

Over the course of our six-week Purito Deep Sea Water Cream review, our skin looked so healthy and youthful that we were getting comments about it, almost on a daily basis. So much so, our partner asked if we might be pregnant because we were glowing so much.

It softened, calmed and smoothed the redness and dry patches we have on the edges of our cheeks, while simultaneously mattifying the oily areas in the centre of our face. This is no mean feat.

Our skin type and skin tone became more balanced after just two weeks of using the cream, and by the end of our six-week review, our skin looked so plump that our fine lines and wrinkles were barely noticeable.

We didn’t experience any breakouts, despite suffering from adult acne; experienced no skin purging and no adverse reactions. This almost never happens when we introduce a new product to our sensitive skin.

It’s a bold statement but we can’t fault the cream itself. The only complaint we have is that it’s not cheap and spending ~£20 on a moisturiser will put this cream out of reach of some people.

In our experience, however, this may well be the best moisturiser we’ve ever tried. In fact, it’s likely the best skincare product period.

For us, the price is more than worth the sacrifice and the Deep Sea Water Cream is one of the best investments we’ve made into our skin to date.
