Worsey Urban Lofts in Melksham near Bath

Location

Situated in the heart of beautiful Wiltshire. The lofts are based in the ancient market town of Melksham. A town that is full of historic buildings, quaint country pubs and cute independent coffee shops. Melksham is roughly a 30-minute drive from the stunning city of Bath. A place well known for its Roman baths and grand Georgian buildings.

Parking

Just around the corner from the apartments, you’ll find allocated parking spaces in the nearby pub carpark. As electric cars grow evermore popular, the bays are even fitted out with EV charging hubs. We don’t own an EV yet, but It’s great they provide this for their guests.

Do they provide any goodies?

There was a breakfast box waiting on the kitchen island when we arrived. This included porridge sachets, and individual boxes of Kellogg’s cereals. Along with mini jars of jams and marmalade’s, hot chocolates, plus a variety of sauce sachets. They had also provided a soft-fresh granary loaf, half a dozen eggs and a carton of UHT milk in the fridge.

The kitchen had a Nespresso coffee machine with a few different flavoured coffee pods. There was also tea bags and individual sweetener sachets. No sugar though. So if you really dislike the artificial taste of sweeteners in a brew, as do I. You may wish to bring some sugar along with you.

The bathroom was kitted out with plenty of toilet rolls, soft fluffy towels and even a little first aid kit with a few handy plasters inside.

Inside the shower nook, there was vegan shampoo, conditioner, and aloe vera body-wash. These were in a wall dispenser, which was fine. Although I do prefer individuals when it comes to toiletries. I feel they are more hygienic as you know nobody has tampered with it. I highly doubt people do, but you never know!

In the bedroom were a couple white robes, a small safe, an iron, and an impressive knock-off Dyson hairdryer.

Entertainment

For entertainment during your stay, you’ll find a TV in the lounge with the standard free-view channels installed. The bedroom had another TV – one that rises up from the footboard of the bed. That one had a Brucie bonus in the form of Netflix.

In the lounge, they had a pack of playing cards, along with a big stack of traditional board games. We opted for a game of monopoly whilst sipping a flute of Asti. If you’re wondering. James won. He makes me feel like a total monopoly novice every time I play against him. I can’t even say he was sneaking through some dodgy bank deals either, as I was the banker.

Open plan kitchen & lounge

This open plan room is full of original features. The high apex ceiling flaunts its rustic wooden beams, and exposed red brick walls add even more character to the cosy apartment.

The kitchen is fully equipped with all the pots, crockery and utensils you could need. There is a swish BOSCH fan oven and induction hob. It just so happened to be the same one we have at home, so that was easy to work. There’s no dining table here, but the kitchen island had a couple of bar stools on the end, which was more than adequate.

There is also a full-sized dishwasher, so nobody is left to do the washing up on holiday. Hurray!

Shower room & bedroom

The modern shower room is in the centre of the apartment, which you enter via a sliding barn door. Love that. Tucked behind a wall at the far end, you’ll find a nice walk in rainfall shower.

One of the best bits in here though is the heated flooring. There’s something so luxurious about warm bathroom floor tiles on your toes, bliss!

The bedroom has the squishiest king-size bed, that’s been topped with the softest Egyptian cotton bedsheets. But whats really special is, the headboard is made from an old boat hull which they found in the ceiling when renovating this place.

Worsey made the perfect base for a bit of retail therapy in Bath, along with some sight seeing at nearby Lacock.
