Why do we often think that growth has to be comfortable?

This one kind of hit me when I was middle of deciding whether or not I should post a picture on my socials. In this age, it’s pretty weird if you aren’t living with a camera always in your face so you can capture every moment.

And I am a bit Uncomfortable with it but I know that social media has it’s advantages and you need to leverage on it, if you don’t advertise yourself at the beginning, no one will.

So here I was deciding if I wanted to post a ‘September Dump’ on my story. And I was fidgeting and then I told myself, I have improved, before I used to post nothing so it doesn’t matter if I blur the photo or not.’

Isn’t it funny that you can always find quotes to make you feel comfortable even when you are doing what you know you shouldn’t be doing.

I tried to remind myself of why I started using socials again and one of my personal reasons was to build my confidence.

I began overthinking and at the end I jut sucumbed to what made me comfortable which was to blur the photo.

However, the point of this post is to remind you and me, that growth and change doesn’t always have to be comfortable. To grow, you need to get comfortable with the uncomfortable.

I recall a video I watched a while back when the speaker said, ‘If you pray to God for courage, does He give you courage or put you in a situation of fear so you can develop that courage.’

Growth is never comfortable and if you try to move with your comfort, you won’t get to far. A while back I spoke about the Comfort, Panic and Stretch Zone.

You can expand into your stretch zone which would certainly not be comfortable and at the same time it won’t automatically put you in a state of panic.

This is a message to myself to learn to gain my confidence and put myself out there knowing and understanding that this growth won’t be comfortable.

And this is a message to you to know that if you feel comfortable then it ain’t growth, step out of that zone.

Cheers to us as we embark on the uncomfortable but deeply rewrading journey.
