Inspirational Story About Marija Nedelkoski, Owner of the SOMA café and Crêperie

In the following period, I will share inspiring stories from women and mothers around me, my dear friends, who inspire me daily and whom I admire and fully support in their journey to achieve their dreams.

These stories will remind you of the resilience and unwavering spirit that resides within all women. From balancing careers and family to overcoming personal obstacles, these incredible women demonstrate the power of the human spirit. 

In this article, we will delve into the remarkable story of my dear friend and inspiring mom – Marija Nedelkoski, who have triumphed over adversity, embraced her uniqueness, and emerged as a shining example of strength.

I wrote once the article: Every mom is a superhero! And I still strongly support and adore that thought.

Discover the awe-inspiring journey of Marija, who tied the knot at the tender age of 18 and embarked on a courageous adventure to America! Witness Marija’s unbelievable resilience, as she navigated the challenges of marriage and a new country, all while embracing motherhood with grace and determination. Her inspiring tale is a testament to the power of love, perseverance, and the unwavering spirit of motherhood.  These days she is living her dream, she has opened her own SOMA café and Creperie, which she is proud of.

My friendship with Marija started very interestingly, in the hospital waiting room before we gave birth to our second children. Sometimes I laugh at her that we are sisters by coincidence: our first children are the same age, our second children were born one day apart, we are both called the same Marija, our husbands were born on the same day, different ages but the same energy and strength to fight for the achievement of our dreams.

There is much more to tell, but I will share with you her story and the news about her new business, which I truly believe she will manage incredibly well. Here is what Marija shared with us:

” My name is Marija Nedelkoski.

I moved to the U.S. in 2013 when I was 17 years old. I started working at restaurants and diners right after my graduation. The 10 years of hands-on experience taught me a lot. But my love for this business has deeper roots going back to my childhood — my father has been a restaurateur for 20 years. When I was a kid, I enjoyed helping my father, and working for him was my best training. America is a land of opportunities, and seeing so many women in the workforce and in positions of power has inspired and motivated me.

I had my struggles as a first-generation American, but I always focused on the positives and was encouraged by the entrepreneurial spirit in America fueled by the immigrants. I always looked for a way to express my identity, and my culture, in a way that made me proud of who I am and where I come from. Opening my restaurant was an extension of this desire.

 I started writing my business plan in 2017, but I was too scared to take the big step then. The opening further got pushed out because of COVID hitting the country, but I wasn’t dissuaded, I continued working on and improvising my plan.

SOMA café and Creperie opens on June 5th, 2023, and I am confident about running this business efficiently because I have invested a lot of time in planning and have the required knowledge and resources. My focus will be on establishing long-term customer relationships, paying attention to their feedback, and maintaining high-quality standards for food and services.

Marijas inspiring story is an example that despite motherhood, every woman can dedicate time to herself and her dreams if she wants, of course with good organization and support from her loved ones
