Our ShowTime Dog Food Review
Overall, we would not recommend ShowTime dog food.
They use many low quality filler ingredients and waste by-products like wheat middlings and poultry digest.
Their meat content is adequate, but their formulas also contain a lot of fat which is linked to immune system degradation.
Their formulas also contain much more grain than other brands which can be hard for dogs to digest.
Below we dig into a few of their popular products in more detail.
ShowTime Advanced 31/22 Endurance Formula
The ShowTime naming convention is the percentages of proteins and fat. The 31/22 formula, for instance, means it contains 32% protein, 22% fat.
The main ingredient literally has the word “byproduct” in it (chicken byproduct meal). Enough said.
After pork meat and bone meal, which is actually a good source of protein, we have ground wheat and corn gluten meal as the third and fourth ingredients.
3 out of the first 4 ingredients are either byproducts or grain that can be hard for dogs to properly digest.
Not recommended.
ShowTime Puppy 30/20 Performance Formula
Same story, different ratio.
The 30/20 puppy formula contains nearly the same ingredients as the 31/22 if you left out the dried beet pulp and egg and replaced the brewer’s rise with brewer’s dried yeast.
But it still contains low quality ingredients like ground whole wheat, corn gluten meal, and poultry digest.
Also not recommended.
ShowTime 27/20 Performance Formula
The 27/20 Performance Formula adds even more grain ingredients with the inclusion of ground yellow corn and wheat middlings.
Again, would not recommend.
What kind of dog food to buy instead
There are several dog food brands out there that I would buy instead of ShowTime dog food.
Kindfull dog food is a Target brand that is easy to buy, healthy, and cheap.
If you’d prefer to go the premium route, I’d go with Badlands Ranch. They ship anywhere in the US and their dry dog food contains only high quality proteins and sustainably-sourced ingredients.
Conclusion – Is ShowTime Dog Food Worth It?
ShowTime dog food may be cheap, but I would not buy it. In my opinion, they use too many low quality proteins, byproducts and fillers in their formulas. Their heavy use of grain in their formulas can be difficult for dogs to digest and some of their ingredients are linked to allergies in dogs.
