Getting Ready at Inglewood Manor

Originally designed as the home's morning room, the Ledsham Suite conveniently interconnects with both the reception and the lounge. Large mullioned windows on the south and east side of the room this is a room filled with natural light. While its high ceilings, ornamental fireplace and large bay window exude elegance and style.
The elegant styling and natural light make the Ledsham Suite not only perfect for wedding ceremonies but perfect for more intimate sit-down meals.

Executive Suite
The Executive Suite sits at the heart of the property and opens out onto a gorgeous terrace overlooking the manicured gardens. The Lounge & Terrace

Too often, couples regret feeling overly posed or awkward, their day photographed not captured, and apprehensive about their wedding photography.
Over ten years ago, we set out to challenge this, to put our couple's experience and the forefront of our wedding photography and what we created was truly magic!
The style of wedding photography we created was authentic and intentional. Neither pure documentary nor entirely staged, but a blend that captured our couples in spirit and essence. Light, when understood, and be used like an artist paints to create something magical, capturing reality but in a way you may never have seen before!
While traditionally staged group photos may not be your thing, rarely are we not asked to take a few. Even when it's simply keeping the family happy, we are always willing to round up a few group shots if asked.

Frederick H. Fox
Frederick H. Fox was a Liverpool entrepreneur who made his fortune in marine insurance. Born in Birkhead in 1872, Frederick married his wife Maud on the 11th of April 1901 in Bebington, Cheshire. The couple had 4 children, Brenda, Henry, Edna and Margret.
Inglewood House Purchase
In July 1902, Frederick & Maud purchased a property on what was Badgersrake Turnpike Lane called Inglewood House, approximately built-in 1860. On purchase, Frederick & Maud set about extending and renovating the property better suited to their style and taste.
Inglewood House Renovations
Renovations were completed, and the family moved in 1915. The same year, Frederick was appointed High Sheriff of Cheshire by his Majesty King George V. The finished house is mostly as seen today and was significantly extended and completed in the finest arts and crafts styling. The new manor house consisted of 8 guest bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, and 4 reception rooms, as well as boasting 38 acres of landscaped gardens. The Fox family moved in with their artist, stockbroker, servant and cook, all of whom lived on the property.
Arts & Crafts at Inglewood Manor
The Arts and Craft movement was at its zenith by the late 19th century. Initially, in reaction to industrialisation and the perceived loss of the decorative arts. The move looked to turn the tide against standardisation and embrace traditional styles and craftsmanship. Its ideals in architecture led to the rise of Art Nouveau in the 1920s and Modernism in the 1930s. However, among craft makers, designers, and town planners, the Arts and Craft ideals prevailed much longer!
The Arts and Crafts styling at Inglewood Manor can be seen wherever you look. The house is almost entirely timber-framed with stone dressings and brick chimneys decorated with diapering. Diapering in this architectural context is a wide range of decorative patterns. It differs from what you do with a small child!
Inglewood Manor Design
Set out over a rectangular footprint with 3 fronts. The east entrance is the most impressive and obviously the main entrance. With 8 bays, the entrance is distinguished by its projecting gabled porch. If you look up, you will see the date and family arms. The front is further characterised by two curved column windows. The servants' quarters were to the North (left when looking at the front of the hall), with the exterior dressed in a similar style.
The south of the property looks over a "small" lawn. Two symmetrical bays project into the patio, with a wooden balcony linking the two. The ground floors are in dressed brick, with the upper floors timber-framed. The west front is similar but less distinguished and looks out over a small pond towards a grand lake beyond.
Inglewood Manor Interior
Inglewood manor was built to wow and entertain guests! Step through the main doors, and the architecture is 17th-century Jacobean. A large staircase with twisted balusters rises from the centre of the room before splitting left and right. The hall is crowned by heavy ceiling beams and joists supported on wooden piers. It is pure theatre. It is an entrance hall within which the children likely ran and played, oblivious to the grandeur that surrounded them. While at the same time, Frederick and Mauds' guests would stand open-mouthed in amazement. Throughout the house, the arts and crafts styling seamlessly blends 17th-century Jacobeanwood woodwork with 18th-century plasterwork. Fluted pilasters, carved console doorcases and intricate stonework.
The house was a tremendous success. Full of grand entertaining spaces that somehow manage to feel warm and cosy, it was designed to entertain and delight. It is no wonder the family regularly hosted dinners, parties and afternoon tea.
Inglewood Manor Legacy
The total estate spread over a sprawling 350 acres and stretched to the nearby village of Willaston. Fredrick enjoyed Inglewood for 24 years before passing away aged 66. While Maud would call the house home until her passing in 1950. On Fredrick's passing, his son Henry (Harry) became the head of the family until his death in November 1963.
Training College
In 1964 the estate was auctioned off to R.Silcock & Sons Limited, and from 1964 to 1971 used as Agricultural Training College for staff, managers and executives. in 1971 the house and 38 acres of gardens were sold to Royal Insurance Limited. During ownership by Royal Insurance Limited, the property was extended to create the Burton Room, and the layout was altered to create 30 en-suite bedrooms. Further extensions and renovations were also carried out between 1973 and 1975.
English Heritage
In 1985 the importance of the property to English Heritage was recognised, and Inglewood Manor became a listed building. In December 2003, Inglewood was purchased by three local businessmen and fully opened to the public in June 2004. The transition from the conference centre to the hotel we know today began at this time.
