Our Favourite Wedding Venues In Cheshire

Picking the perfect luxury Wedding venue in Cheshire venue for your wedding day can be daunting.

With so many stunning venues to choose from, it can be challenging to know where to start. That is one of the reasons we have created this resource outlining some of our favourite wedding venues in Cheshire.

When Julia and I started planning our wedding in 2014, we were in the same place you are now. Sat reading and researching potential venues before creating a shortlist and booking viewings. In the end, we booked the first venue we visited. Why? Because they instantly made us feel uniquely special and that our day was as important to them as it was to us. Yes, the venue was stunning, but how it made us feel and how the staff looked after us was what made it truly special. 

In all honestly, we did try to play it cool, told them we had others to view and we would get back to them. But, unfortunately, we only managed to drive 2 miles before returning and booking the same day. 

We did NOT play it cool!!

When putting together this list, it has been this personal experience that we have kept in mind. Each of these wedding venues is either elegant or architecturally striking. In addition, each offers stunning grounds and fantastic locations for photos. Most importantly, however, we believe each has that " X " factor we were looking for and found for our own wedding. 

WEDDING VENUES IN CHESTER

OLD PLACE CHESTER

When picking a venue, there are usually a few compromises that need to be made; for example, you can’t have both the elegance and privacy of a country house and the convenience of a city centre location, can you? Nestled in the city’s heart, overlooking the river Dee, the Old Palace of Chester does just that! For your wedding day, it is exclusively yours to enjoy.

Even arriving at the venue is exceptional. Flanked by Chesters’ stunning architectural history, including the Roman Amphitheater and former Chester Cathedra, before entering the grounds through your own private gates.

This is a venue where rich history and contemporary style meet seamlessly to offer a venue that this truly one of a kind.

Old Palace Wedding Cost

Total costs range from as little as around £5,300 for an off peak, weekday wedding without accommodation costs, to around £29,000 for a peak day wedding with 150 daytime guests with the premier food and drink package, and all 21 guest rooms. MOTTRAM HALL

Set in 270 acres of majestic Cheshire countryside, Champneys Mottram Hall is an elegant 18th Century late Georgian country house hotel. This stunning 4-star hotel has a definite wow factor.

Mottram Hall Wedding Cost

The starting cost for a wedding at Mottram Hall is £6,250 for an off peak wedding Sunday to Thursday, based on 50 daytime and evening guest including; Complementary Bridal Suite and Red Carpet Entrance, Chair Covers & Sash, Menu Tasting, Prosecco Drink Reception, Three Course Wedding Breakfast & Buffet with Prosecco Toast & Toastmaster.

MANCHESTER UNIVERSITY

Located around the Old Quadrangle, Manchester University offers several venues for your wedding. The beautiful buildings around the Old Quadrangle date from 1873 and were designed by Alfred Waterhouse and his son Paul Waterhouse who also designed Manchester Town Hall. The first to be built was the John Owens building, with the other buildings added over the next thirty years. Today the Museum occupies one side of the Quadrangle adjacent to Whitworth Hall, which is the main hall used to this day for Graduation ceremonies and key ceremonial events. The remaining buildings are home to University staff including the offices of the President and Vice Chancellor.

SANDHOLE OAK BARN

Sandhole Oak Barn sits on the banks of a tranquil lake within 400 acres of rolling Cheshire countryside, few settings are as idyllic or offers such a magnificent setting for your wedding day. A versatile area, the oak barn can easily accommodate 140 for a wedding breakfast, and yet is also perfectly suited for more intimate celebrations.
