Tear Down and Rebuild

I spent the weekend working in the Lego room. The display from the show is taken apart. I only saved the three towers. It went faster than I expected.

I learned a few things from the Lego show-- kids like dragons, the taller your model, the better, and lights are appreciated. I am going to incorporate these into my next project. I have modified the wizard's tower, which will be the centerpiece of the new display. Here are a few pictures.

I like the look from this angle.
Believe it or not, it does stand on its own. There was a bit of engineering involved in getting the second tower to remain straight and not topple the whole thing.

I don't like the proportions from this angle, and the walls are boring. I have these light Blue Bricks I wanted to add, but I was too busy trying to get the mechanics to work.

The dragon is actually flying. I have ordered two more!
I added a Blue light to the tower.

I know they are hard to see, but it doesn't travel well, so I didn't take them to the basement greenscreen. I am not sure I am happy with the proportions. I will probably take the whole thing apart and start from scratch. I don't currently have enough dark blue bricks for the lower roof. The grey ones are just placeholders until I order more.

Don't be surprised if I change the whole thing. As I write this, I am thinking about scrapping this idea and going with two more of the smaller spires along the main body. The wolfpack tower's body is more conducive to adding spires, but it is not as round, and I have not tried doing the spiral stairs on it. I definitely have more thinking to do.

I spent all Sunday sorting through my parts.  could spend days organizing and looking through all the unique pieces. It is my happy place for sure.
