What is the Vision of Saudi Arabia (2030)

Saudi Vision 2030 is a long-term national transformation plan launched by the Saudi government in 2016. The plan aims to diversify the economy away from oil, create a more vibrant society, and build a more ambitious nation.

The vision is built around three main themes:

  • A vibrant society: This includes improving the quality of life for all citizens, promoting social cohesion, and preserving the country's cultural heritage.
  • A thriving economy: This includes reducing the country's reliance on oil, creating jobs, and attracting foreign investment.
  • An ambitious nation: This includes building a strong military, developing a knowledge-based economy, and becoming a global leader in sustainable development.

The vision has a number of specific goals, including:

  • Increasing the non-oil GDP contribution to 65% by 2030.
  • Increasing the number of women in the workforce to 30% by 2030.
  • Reducing unemployment to 7% by 2030.
  • Attracting $100 billion in foreign investment by 2030.
  • Developing 15 new economic cities by 2030.
  • Making Saudi Arabia a global hub for tourism by 2030.

The Saudi government has made significant progress in implementing the vision. The non-oil GDP contribution has already reached 50%, and the number of women in the workforce has increased to 22%. The government has also attracted over $50 billion in foreign investment since the launch of the vision.

However, there are still challenges to be overcome. The unemployment rate remains high, and the country needs to diversify its economy further. The government also needs to address the issue of income inequality.

Despite the challenges, the Saudi government is committed to achieving the goals of Vision 2030. The vision has the potential to transform the country and make it a more prosperous and equitable place to live.

Here are some of the key projects that are being implemented under Vision 2030:

  • NEOM: NEOM is a new mega-city being built in the north-west of Saudi Arabia. It is designed to be a hub for innovation and technology, and will include a number of new industries, such as tourism, renewable energy, and manufacturing.

  • The Red Sea Project: The Red Sea Project is a luxury tourism development that will include hotels, resorts, and other tourist facilities. It is located on a pristine stretch of coastline on the Red Sea.

  • Amaala: Amaala is a luxury wellness resort development that will be located on the Red Sea coast. It will offer a variety of health and wellness experiences, as well as cultural and lifestyle amenities.

  • Diriyah Gate: Diriyah Gate is a cultural and heritage development that will be located in the historic city of Diriyah. It will include museums, restaurants, and other cultural attractions.

  • King Salman Energy Park: King Salman Energy Park is a new industrial city that will be located in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. It will focus on the energy and manufacturing sectors.

These are just a few of the many projects that are being implemented under Vision 2030. The government is committed to transforming the country and making it a more prosperous and equitable place to live.

The success of Vision 2030 will depend on a number of factors, including the global economic environment, the pace of technological change, and the ability of the Saudi government to implement the plan effectively. However, the vision has the potential to make a significant impact on the country and its people.
