Iza wishes for “Shake, Rattle, & Roll Extreme” to make it to this year’s MMFF
It has been a year since Iza Calzado took a break from showbiz after getting pregnant with her firstborn, Deia Amihan.
Now, Iza makes an acting comeback as she joins the latest installment of the hit horror movie franchise of Regal Films, “Shake, Rattle, & Roll.”
Aptly titled “Shake, Rattle, & Roll Extreme,” the horror franchise is also making a comeback nine years after its last installment. The last was shown in 2014 at the Metro Manila Film Festival.
During the movie’s cast and teaser reveal for the press on September 27 at 28 Valencia Events Place, Iza shared her excitement about her comeback.
She tells the press, “Comeback ko siya from motherhood. It’s been a year, it was over a year since I had to take a pause and then now the comeback is real, I’m here.
“Ang bilis, parang hindi ako masyadong nagpahinga pero ang ganda lang kasi pagbabalik ng ‘Shake…’, pagbabalik ko rin sa pelikula. So, it feels great to be back working.”
Of this, Iza says she just enjoyed the whole process and not putting any pressure on the movie’s outcome.
“My expectation, honestly, kapag gumagawa ako ng isang proyekto, ayokong masyado naglalagay ng expectations kasi nakaka-pressure siya.
“Ako, I enjoyed the process of making the film. I enjoy this, being with all of you today promoting the film.”
Iza headlines the episode “Glitch” together with Donna Cariaga, child actress Jewel Milag, and Sparkle artists Angel Guardian and Miggs Cuaderno.
The two other episodes are headlined by a mix of ABS-CBN and GMA-7 talents as well as content creators.
Jane Oineza, RK Bagatsing, and Paul Salas are headlining the episode “Mukbang” with Star Magic’s AC Bonifacio, Sparkle’s Elle Villanueva and Bryce Eusebio, and content creators Ninong Ry and Esnyr.
The other episode is “Rage” topbilled by Jane de Leon, Rob Gomez, Mika Reins, Paolo Gumabao, and Dustin Yu.
The movie is in the hopes of making it to the last four films of the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival, which will be announced this month.

Seeing the huge cast during the cast reveal, Iza is hopeful that the movie will be appreciated even more and can be a best bet for the yearly Christmas movie festival.
She says, “Now, ang dami-dami, full force! Napakarami namin, meron pa tayong mga content creator.
“Iba na talaga ang kino-consume ng tao ngayon, so I think, ang maganda sa ‘Shake, Rattle, & Roll,’ dahil tatlong pelikula siya sa isa, marami kaming pwedeng magsama-sama para gumawa ng ingay.”
The teaser was revealed to the public on October 7, 2023. But during the press conference, Iza showed confidence that people will love it.
She tells the press, “Nakita niyo rin naman na sa teaser. Ako, sa teaser, sold na! No bias, ha. I watched it and I said I’m proud to be part of this project.
“So, we are extremely grateful that you are here today, we are extremely proud of the work we have done, and we’re extremely excited to be part of the MMFF. Sana po, magdilang anghel. Thy will be done.
“Pero kung ano’t ano naman po, kami naman ay handa ring tanggapin graciously kung ano rin ang magiging outcome ng lahat. Basta we are hoping and praying for the best.”
More than making it to the MMFF, Iza’s prayer is really for the whole movie industry.
Iza shares, “Ang aking hiling sa Panginoon ay sana maraming makapanood nitong pelikulang ito. Actually, ang hiling ko ay beyond sa ‘Shake, Rattle, & Roll.’ It’s for the entire industry.
“Sana, magbalik na ang ating mga kapwa Pilipino sa panonood ng sine, pelikula. Tayo po ay nananalig because ang tagumpay po ng isang pelikula ngayon, really, will signify the coming back to life of cinema. So, that’s really my fervent prayer.”
“Shake, Rattle, & Roll Extreme” is directed by Richard Somes, Jerrold Tarog, and Joey de Guzman, with scripts written by Onay Sales, Anton Santa Maria, Trisha Delez, Jerrold Tarog, and Noreen Capili.
