Ruru Madrid On His Partnership With Yassi Pressman: “Hindi Kami Hardsell”

Here’s why Yassi Pressman appreciates Ruru Madrid as his leading man

Ruru Madrid and Yassi Pressman are proud of the team-up they have built in their latest movie, “Video City.”

In the movie, Ruru plays Han, an aspiring director who suddenly finds himself traveling back in 1995 inside a video rental store. He then meets Ningning, Yassi’s character, who is a saleslady at the store.

Their team-up might have proven to have strong chemistry because immediately after shooting “Video City,” Yassi was introduced as Ruru’s leading lady in his upcoming primetime series, “Black Rider.”

During a recent press conference for “Video City,” FreebieMNL asked Ruru and Yassi what is with their team-up that will bring kilig to the viewers.

Ruru is proud to say that their kilig scenes in the movie came naturally, primarily because of the trust they build towards each other.

“I don’t know for some reason, yung tiwala, yung connection sa bawat eksena na ginagawa natin, nandoon siya, parang never siyang nawala.

Ruru also credits their director, Raynier Brizuela, for making each kilig scene to come out naturally.

As for Yassi, she also honors how the material was written.

The VIVA artist explains, “Yung material din po namin from the beginning, hindi po siya yung kilig nahalos hindi nga po nag-hawak ng kamay minsan, e.

Siguro, the fantasy of how two people na galing sa ibang era could connect so fast na nararamdaman mo na you belong together.

Yung fight din po noon against time, against destiny is hard na minsan, gustung gusto mong makuha talaga itong taong ito pero imposible and that makes you just want him even more kaya gagawa at gagawa ka ng paraan dahil mahal na mahal mo.

Si Ningning po talaga yung nabuhay inside me and si Han, naniniwala po talaga ako na I’m from a different era.

How Ruru and Yassi describe each other as partners

Ruru and Yassi both have good words to describe each other as partners in the movie, especially behind the scenes.

Ruru, in fact, says that Yassi’s leading lady duties do not just end in front of the camera.

As for Yassi, she appreciates how Ruru encourages her during times when things take its toll in terms of work.

Sabi niya, ‘Kaya mo yan.’ Hindi yung, ‘Ako rin, e. Pagod din ako.’

“Feeling ko, with that partnership, siyempre, hindi kayo laging nasa taas all the time na kayang kaya niyo. So that is Ruru, be it nasa likod ng camera or nasa harap.”

“Video City,” produced by VIVA Films and GMA Pictures, opened in cinemas yesterday, September 20.
