Scooter Braun appears to be unperturbed by his talents’ recent departure

Music manager Scooter Braun is aware that people are paying attention to who he’s working with amid reports of constant changes to his client roster.

“Breaking news… I’m no longer managing myself,” Scooter joked in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, August 23, 2023.

A string of departures

Scooter’s post follows news that singer Demi Lovato amicably parted ways with him after working together for four years. 

Demi’s departure came right on the heels of Pop Star Ariana Grande parting ways with Scooter also this August.

Ariana’s association with Scooter and his SB Projects dates back to 2013, coinciding with the release of her breakthrough debut album, “Yours Truly.”

Aside from the two pop stars, a report of singer-actress Idina Menzel leaving Scooter’s wing continues to fan out. The pair have worked together since 2019.

Current talents

Tori Kelly, Black Eyed Peas, and country music duo Dan + Shay are among the music manager’s other clients. He formerly represented Kanye West, now Ye, off and on.

Scooter gained quick success as a music manager in the 2000s after discovering Justin Bieber at a young age and has worked with the Grammy winner ever since. 

Despite ongoing reports that the “Baby” singer is considering jumping ship, sources familiar with their deal have disputed that Justin was seeking new management.

Scooter’s tenure as a music manager, while popular, has at times been a part of major pop culture debates.

Most notably, the music executive acquired the master recordings of Taylor Swift’s first six albums from her former label – Big Machine Label Group in June 2019 – despite her objections. At the time, Taylor called the agreement her “worst case scenario” and announced her plans to re-record those first six albums, coining them “Taylor’s Version” albums.

She has since released “Taylor’s Version” re-records of “Red,” “Fearless” and “Speak Now,” with “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” coming in October. Taylor is expected to release re-records for the remaining two albums, “Reputation (Taylor’s Version)” and her 2006 self-titled debut album.

Scooter is currently the CEO of Hybe America, a South Korean multinational entertainment company that manages K-Pop powerhouse group BTS.
