Why Sylvia Sanchez Said Yes To “Senior High” Role?

Sylvia Sanchez recalls crying for the first time because of a role: “Na-drain talaga ako”

After a two-year hiatus in doing teleseryes, Sylvia Sanchez is back with yet another challenging role in the Kapamilya primetime series “Senior High.”

In the series, she is Lydia, the lady security guard of Northford High who witnessed the death of Luna (Andrea Brillantes). She also plays the grandmother of the character played by Kyle Echarri.

Her last series was “Huwag Kang Mangamba (HKM)” where she played a mentally challenged beggar. Since then, she has taken a break from doing teleseryes.

During a special screening for “Senior High” on August 21 at ELJ Building’s screening room, FreebieMNL asked Sylvia why she said yes to this new show.

Sylvia starts with sharing the struggle she had while doing her role as Barang in her last series.

Sylvia says, “Nakaplano kasi talaga ako mag-stop right after ‘HKM’ kasi yung role ko doon, malala talaga as Barang. So, na-drain talaga ako.

“Like ako, sinabi ko one year lang, umabot ng two years.

According to Sylvia, the role is a far cry from the past projects she did such as “Be Careful With My Heart,” “The Greatest Love,” “Hanggang Saan,” and “Pamilya Ko.”

As such, she has to change her look to fit the new role and bring something new to the table.

Like, nagpagupit ako ng buhok.

Kasi gusto ko, sa loob ng two years na nawala ako, gusto ko may bago. Anong bago? Siyempre, unahin mo muna yung itsura mo kasi yun yung una makikita, e.

So, ganun nangyari.

Sylvia will do action in “Senior High”

At press time, Sylvia cannot share yet more details about her character. But one thing that attracted her was the promise that she would do something she had dreamed of since she became an actress.

Um-oo sila.

Iba ngayon. Basta iba. Basta yun, manggugulat na lang kaming mag-lola.”
