Vic Sotto Talks About Politics, Life In Showbiz With Kim Chiu

Vic claims that he never entertained the thought of joining politics

Kim Chiu has ticked off yet another first on her vlog by having none other than seasoned actor and comedian Vic Sotto as her guest.

Apart from having the host of their rival show “E.A.T.,” making the “It’s Showtime” host’s August 27, 2023 vlog even more special was the range of topics that they have covered simply by playing This or That and Truth or Dare.

Among the topics they touched upon were politics, their personal life, and their experiences in the entertainment industry.

Vic on Showbiz

In the early part of the vlog, Kim asked Vic if he ever considered running for public office like his brother, former senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto.

Hindi. Although si Tito Sen nasa pulitika. ‘Yung isang anak ko, nasa pulitika. Pero ako, marami nang nagtanong sa akin kung interesado ako kahit na noong araw pa, even before na makapasok sa pulitika si Tito.”

Vic was quick to add the reason why he opted not to join local politics.

Never kong in-entertain.

As they went on, Kim asked one-third of the popular trio called TVJ, composed of Tito, Vic, and Joey De Leon, to choose between doing a movie or a sitcom.

Unlike sa pelikula, I’m sure na-experience mo rin ‘yan, siguro mga isa o dalawang eksena lang for a day.”

Mas relaxed kapag pelikula,” he joked.

As they continued, Kim made Vic choose between acting and singing, something that Vic opted not to do since he started off in the business as a singer.

Proving that his positive mindset served as one of the biggest reasons for his longevity in the business, Vic went on to share that he doesn’t have any unfavorable opinion about a specific actor or actress.

Lahat naman tayo, magkakaibigan,” he said.

But how much is Bossing earning these days?

Sakto lang, komportable lang sa buhay. Through the years naman, palaki ng palaki ‘yun. Siyempre, tumataas din ang cost of living ng mga Pilipino, so, sumasabay lang yun. Basta komportable lang,” he said.

As their conversation moved on, Kim started asking more personal questions to Vic, starting off with his perspective on social media. Despite having so many accounts online, Vic shared that he only actually maintains one Instagram and one Facebook account.

The rest that the public are seeing are merely posers.

May Facebook ako pero parang dalawa lang ata ang friends ko doon,” he said with a laugh.

When asked about the most valuable present he has ever given his currently pregnant wife, Pauleen Luna, he coyly responded that it is his unwavering and unconditional love.

In the latter portion of the interview, Vic shifted to a more profound tone as he shared the valuable lesson that he hoped his youngest daughter, Tali to take away from him.

Siguro ‘yung pagkapasensyoso. Kapag hindi mo nakuha, you have to be patient na siguro, balang araw, dadating. Kung hindi man, may rason ‘yun,” he said.

“It’s one virtue na gusto kong matutunan ni Tali. Sa ngayon, impatient, e. Kapag matagal ‘yung pagkain, umiinit ang ulo, e,” he added in jest.
