Heart Evangelista Renews Contract With Sparkle

Is Heart Evangelista having her own lifestyle show soon?

Fashion icon Heart Evangelista remains a Kapuso as she inked yet another contract with GMA-7’s talent management arm, Sparkle, on Thursday, August 17, at The Westin Manila Sonata Place in Mandaluyong City.

During the event, Heart has looked back on a decade-strong relationship with the network and expressed her gratitude to the executives who give her unwavering trust.

Heart expresses: “To GMA, thank you so much for everything. I started out very young with you guys, and you were there for me throughout the way.

“I’m just very grateful that you trust me and you support me with all that I do.”

Leading the event were GMA-7’s big bosses: Senior Vice President Annette Gozon-Valdes, Sparkle Vice President Joy Marcelo, and Senior Assistant Vice President for Alternative Productions and Assigned Manager Gigi Santiago-Lara.

Annette, in return, has offered the actress some good words.

“We’re very proud not only of the star you’ve become, but of the woman you’ve become.

“Thank you for forging your own path, your authenticity or your authentic self because I think that’s the key to your success. There can only be one Heart Evangelista.”

Senator Chiz Escudero, Heart’s husband, has taken a day out of the office to show up for his wife.

Heart Evangelista thanked Johnny Manahan

Also seen at the contract-signing was Sparkle consultant and veteran star-maker Johnny “Mr. M” Manahan who Heart has acknowledged and thanked for kick-starting her career.

Naiiyak ako. You saw me in a crowd and everybody else here came because you saw me first, so thank you so much,” an emotional Heart says in an interview with GMA News.

Heart also reminisces the days leading up to her success, owing it heavily to the “father” who discovered her.

“I have so many good memories with Mr. M. I remember after opening a noon-time show back in the day, he would ask the assistant director to tell me to come up to the booth and I’d eat pizza with him.

Siya talaga ang naka-discover sa akin. It’s nice that he’s here because this is so meaningful for me. Even after all these years, I’ve always wanted to make him proud.”

Will Heart Evangelista banner her own lifestyle show?

With Heart’s reprisal of contract comes prospect of new projects—one of which is the possibility of having her own lifestyle show as tapped by Sparkle Vice President Joy Marcelo.

In an interview with reporter Nelson Canlas for “24 Oras,” Joy says: “We’re hoping finally, this time, that Heart can do something that she really wants.

Baka naman pwede tayong gumawa ng lifestyle show for Heart? So, feeling ko yun, yun yung bagay at yun yung siguro hinihintay din ng mga tao.”

Heart seems to bank on the idea, as she expresses bringing more of herself to the screen.

“I think, ano, nae-enjoy ko yung pag-play ng ibat-ibang characters sa telenovelas, sa movies, pero nae-enjoy ko talaga pag-play ng sarili ko these days; to play myself.

“And because of that, I hope that I can work on something which I am really starting in and it will be something very intriguing, very authentic, so people will get to see who I really, really am.

Nae-excite din ako kasi marami ding scripts na pinapakita sa akin. So, we will see.”

Heart started her career in ABS-CBN via the youth-oriented show “G-Mik” in 2000. She was then groomed as one of the network’s promising stars with her shows “Arriba Arriba” and later, “Hiram” and “Ang Panday.” Heart is also more known as a VJ of ABS-CBN’s music channel, MYX.

In 2008, Heart transferred to GMA-7 and became a leading lady in shows and movies, including “Codename: Asero” (2008), “Ngayon at Kailanman” (2009), “Forever” (2013), and “My Korean Jagiya” (2017).

Her most recent project in GMA-7 was the series “I Left My Heart in Sorsogon.” She also appeared in the international film “The Wedding Hustler” and Netflix’s “Bling Empire.”
