Which Actor Does Alden Richards Pick For His On-Screen Life Story?

Alden Richards envisions a feel-good episode of his life starring Joshua Garcia

It’s been ten years since Sparkle artist Alden Richards bannered his own life story in GMA-7’s “Magpakailanman,” and if ever given another chance to do a biopic, he wants Kapamilya actor Joshua Garcia to portray him this time.

Si Joshua Garcia, nasa GMA na, bakit hindi siya, di ba?” he shares during the July 21 online media conference for the special release of “Magpakailanman”—a month-long special that will headline Alden in four episodes starting August 5.

Alden is firm that Joshua will justify his life story, particularly his career, in the last ten years. More so, he envisions a lighter narration, “a feel-good episode yet inspirational” that deviates far from his first biopic centered on his struggles.

Kasi doon po, parang life story ko po when we were kids, mahirap po kami, yung condition po ng mom ko towards her deathbed, ‘tapos nag-start po akong naging artista, etc,” he says.

“So, kung may second part man po, sana from that part going na to where I am po now. Sana ganun,” Alden adds.

Whose life does Alden Richards want to portray?

In a follow-up question, PEP.ph has asked “Asia’s Multimedia Star” during the zoom press conference who among the prominent names and figures he wants to portray on screen for “Magpakailanman”.

For this, he has GMA-7’s Chief Executive Officer Atty. Felipe Gozon in mind.

Sa ngayon po, siguro, si FLG, si Mr Gozon. Okay yun. Si Mr. Gozon po, i-portray po natin ang buhay ni Mr. Gozon. Kung papayag po si Boss,” he says.

The first among the four “Magpakailanman” special episodes was titled “A Runner To Remember-The Jirome de Castro Story,” which was released on Saturday, August 5. He co-starred with Sparkle artist Sanya Lopez under the direction of Neal del Rosario.

For the second one, he will portray a certain Richard Licap, while the third and fourth installments are titled “The Lost Boy” and “Sa Puso’t Isipan: The Andrew Cantillana Story,” respectively.

Alden Richards shares lesson in life

As immortalized in his biopic, Alden knows that life is not a straight path.

But if there were golden moments for him, it was his realization that struggles and victories coexist and are interdependent.

With that, he says: “Siyempre, sa journey naman po ng buhay, hindi naman lahat nagiging masarap ang journey. Lagi yan. Yin and yang yan. In every good, there’s always a bad, and in every bad, there’s always good. It’s a cycle, a continuing journey.”

More so, Alden aims to take his viewers deeper into the industry by highlighting the reality behind the limelight facade.

Gusto kong mapakita yung realidad ng showbiz na, ano bang nangyayari? Akala nila, ngiti-ngiti lang, pogi lang, maganda lang. But what is the business all about? How difficult it is to stay, how difficult it is to go? The people you trust in the industry, who are they? You really have to be careful,” he says.
