How Jake Ejercito Built Chemistry With Kim Chiu On Their First Team-Up

Jake Ejercito admits it was “daunting” when he was first offered the role

Jake Ejercito gets his first leading-man role in Prime Video and Dreamscape Entertainment’s original series, “Fit Check: Confessions of an Ukay Queen.”

In the series, which premiered on July 6 on Prime Video, Jake plays the role of Chris Blanco, a handsome fashion executive who discovers the talent of Melanie (Kim Chiu).

This is also the first time that Jake is working with Kim as his romantic interest.

During the press conference of “Fit Check” on June 29, Jake admits he was pressured when he found out he will be paired with Kim for the show.

He says, “Na-pressure ako kasi ‘Multimedia Star: Kim Chiu!'”

Workshops helped them bond and build chemistry as they are able to get to know each other more.

“We actually did some workshops, a couple of workshops before kami nag-start, which really helped ma-break yung ice and everything.

“But once you get to know Kim, it’s really easy to get along with her, and I’m sure everyone will agree with me na si Kim talaga the glue that kept us together.

Si Kimmy, yung energy niya, never bumababa. It’s so contagious, nahawa yung buong set.”

His first leading man role

When it comes to being offered his first role as a leading man, Jake admittedly got surprised especially when he found out who will he be working with.

He shares, “When it was pitched to me na first collaboration between Dreamscape and Prime Video ‘tapos yung makakasama ko pa, the likes of Kim Chiu, Miss Angel [Aquino], Sir Christopher De Leon amongst many others, talagang na-pressure ako, it was so daunting to me.”

But apart from being grateful, Jake is also happy that his co-stars were supportive of one another in terms of doing scenes and even behind the camera.

He continues, “Very grateful for the trust na mapabilang sa show na ito and once we started working on the show, naging madali.

Kasi as Kim said, we became a close-knit group talaga. So, comfortability is there, the trust is there, kahit every eksena ko with Sir Bo, before every eksena, talagang nakikinig ako, nakikita nila Kim yan. But everyone’s supportive of one another.”

Jake’s first foray into acting was in two “Eat Bulaga” Lenten Specials. In 2020, he signed a contract with Star Magic and was able to do the teleseryes “Marry Me, Marry You,” “The Broken Marriage Vow,” and “A Family Affair.”
