Was there a time Pinky Amador’s confrontation scenes with other actors in the show got real?

Veteran TV and theater actress Pinky Amador has been making waves on social media for her portrayal as the kontrabida Moira Tanyag in the top-rating GMA-7 afternoon series, “Abot-Kamay Na Pangarap.”

Viewers have been loving to hate her for her villainous schemes and antics against the show’s leads, Jillian Ward and Carmina Villarroel. Of this, she has also been engaged in several catfight and confrontation scenes with them as well as other characters, such as Dina Bonnevie.

But Pinky is proud to say that she already knows the trick to “slap” other people’s faces for the scene without hurting them in reality.

She says, “Ako kasi, sa dami ng beses ko nang nanampal, I can actually slap someone without touching them. Depende rin minsan.

“Lahat ng sampalan namin ni Miss D, walang umabot doon kahit isang ganun. Actually, there’s a trick, stage acting, ang pananampal mo, yung fingers mo, huwag dito sa palm para dampi lang kumbaga. Kapag matunog, kailangan, nangangalahati [yung kamay.]

Pinky had a catch-up press conference with select members of the media, including FreebieMNL, on June 28 at Summit Hotel in Pasig to celebrate her 40 years in the industry.

Jillian Ward requests a real slap

But there are other co-actors who actually ask for a real slap for some reason, says Pinky.

One of them is actually Jillian Ward, who plays the lead character Analyn in “Abot-Kamay Na Pangarap.”

Pinky recalls, “May isang eksena, umaga, ‘tapos puyat na puyat siya from the night before, halos wala siyang tulog. Habang naghihintay siya for her to enter the scene, nakakatulog na siya.

“So, noong time na talagang darating na siya, sasampalin ko [ng daya], hindi niya nasabi yung dialogue niya, ‘tapos nag-request siya na, ‘Direk, paabutin na po natin.’

“So, pagkaabot, dire-diretso dialogue with matching two tears! Dire-diretso, walang nakalimutan ni isa, hindi nag-buckle.

“Which goes to show, when push comes to shove, doon makikita yung galing mo, di ba? May time na humihingi sila.”

How about Carmina Villarroel?

Pinky also has intense fight scenes with Carmina Villarroel, who plays Moira’s rival, Lyneth, in the story.

While they have never hurt each other when it comes to slapping scenes, it cannot be avoided in some scenes because they want it to come out realistic.

“Kasi ang dami namin sabunutan, si Carmina nagsasabi na, ‘Ate Pinks, i-ganun mo na, Sabi ko, ‘Anak, masakit. ‘Hindi, i-ganun mo talaga para mukhang totoo.’ Anyway, normally, take one or two lang naman kami.”

One of the most challenging scenes was when Moira wanted to stab Lyneth in the eye with a barbecue stick. It was physically consuming and at the same time, they had to be careful to avoid accidents.

Pinky recalls, “Si Mina pa nagsabi, ‘Patungan mo ako. Kapag hindi mo ako pinatungan, masisipa kita.‘ E, tama naman, so, may struggle.

“‘Tapos itapat mo sa mata ko!’ Ayaw ko. Ayaw ko, e, kasi ito yung mata niya, ito yung barbecue stick, nakasapaw lang. Ayaw ko nang nakapatong kasi anything can happen!

“E, kung magka-aksidente? Hindi naman ako stunt director. So, siyempre, nandoon yung pag-iingat first and foremost. Kami ni Mina, never kami nag-abot ng sampalan niyan, e.”

Admittedly, shooting such scenes can be very tiring for them, even if they have already mastered doing fight scenes as they’ve been in the industry for a long time.

“I think because we’re old, we’ve been doing this for a long time, we know how to take care. Pero nakakapagod talaga, hindi mo maiiwasang hindi mapagod kasi if the emotion is fake, audiences can tell.”

Getting along with Carmina and Dina

But what’s good about their set is that even if Pinky’s character is always fighting with Carmina and Dina’s characters, they get along well.

Talking about Carmina, Pinky says, “It’s fun, Mina and I weren’t always at odds with each other [in the show] but we were making bungisngis the whole time.

“At saka isa pa yan, kapag si Miss Mina ang nagdadala ng pagkain, grocery! Mga tatlo, limang tray ng tsitsirya. Pero kapag nagdala yan ng pagkain, masarap talaga! Kaya ‘pag nag-aaya yan, walang nag-no-no kasi alam talaga naming sobrang sarap niyan.”

As for Dina, the project served as a reunion for her and Pinky, who first worked together in the film “Magdusa Ka” in the ’80s.

Pinky shares, “I’ve known Dina for 36 years kasi siya yung bida, ako kontrabida sa ‘Magdusa Ka.’ ‘Tapos, siyempre, pagdating sa cast, ako yung kachika niya, e. Like, Mina kasi is always on set, so, kami yung magkachika [ni Dina].”

Pinky is aware that there are some who find Dina intimidating, but she thinks otherwise.

She continues, “Actually, others will say na, ‘Hala, ayan na si Miss D.’ I would say, ‘Hala, ang bait bait kaya niyan, ano!‘

“I mean, her persona is just what you see is what you get, it’s simple as that. E, di behave ka, huwag kang maldita, ‘tapos ang kwento.

“‘Tapos she always shares her food, e, ang takaw takaw ko. Laging, ‘Miss D, anong ulam natin ngayong lunch?’ She really brings food to share. Ang dami naming bonding sa set apart from TikTok. Kanya-kanya kaming toka sa pagkain, meryenda, ayun.“
