Vice Ganda Airs Fond Message Amid “It’s Showtime” Farewell To TV5

“Ang puso ng Madlang People ang TOTOONG TAHANAN natin,” Vice writes

Comedian and host Vice Ganda gives a heartfelt message for the viewers of “It’s Showtime” after the recently announced transfer of the noontime show from TV5 to GTV.

The “Unkabogable Star” took her words of consolation to Instagram yesterday, June 20, hours after the official announcement that the program will begin airing on GMA-7’s sister channel, GTV on July 1, 2023.

Vice writes (published as is):

Alam kong nagulat kayo. Naguguluhan. Natatakot. Nalulungkot. Naiiyak. Haaaaay! Hingang malalim.

Itataguyod kahit anong pagod. “Di kita iiwan. Pahirin mo ang iyong luha. Itutuloy natin ang saya. Dito at doon. Damhin mo ang mahigpit kong yakap. Mahal na mahal kita!

Life is fascinating and makes you grateful. When it takes one thing from you it always replaces it with something else.”

The farewell occurred on the same day TV5 officially introduced Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon (TVJ) and the rest of the original ”Eat Bulaga!” hosts as the newest members of the network.

It can be recalled that the trajectory of “It’s Showtime” was put under discussion because of the possibility that TVJ will be given the noontime slot after they forged a partnership with MediaQuest Holdings Inc.

Prior to this, “Eat Bulaga!” hosts bid goodbye to GMA-7 on May 31 after a seemingly unresolvable feud with TAPE Inc.

Just a week after, Tito, Vic, and Joey publicized that they have found a new home with TV5.

Based on ABS-CBN’s statement, “It’s Showtime” was offered to air on a delayed telecast due to “programming movements” on TV5 but ABS-CBN has decided to “respectfully decline” the offer.

TV5 and ABS-CBN remain business partners

TV5 President and CEO Guido Zaballero, during the media conference of TVJ’s welcome to TV5 yesterday, June 20, has clarified that while ABS-CBN pulled out “It’s Showtime” from the Kapatid network, their ties remain intact.

He says, “Unang-una, they continue to be our partners and we respect their decision. Ang pinaka importante kasi is, at the end of the day, panalo ‘yung Filipino viewers. ‘Di ba?”

Though it has been confirmed that no ties were severed, MediaQuest President and CEO Jane Jimenez outright admits that TVJ’s new show is their top priority.

“The difference is that the relationship with ‘It’s Showtime’ and that contract which was actually set to expire by the end of June, is a blocktime relationship. This time around, we are co-owners and co-investors in TVJ Productions,” she says.

So ‘yung title ng kung ano man ‘yung show namin, mas invested kami kasi produkto na namin, ‘di ba? So, it just really makes sense through business standpoint to put it in the time slot that is best for it,” she adds.

Jane mentions that they did actually offer “It’s Showtime” to consider an afternoon slot, which they find more fitting in terms of audience demographics. But with things not going out as envisioned, Jane assures that support will still be rendered from their end.

TV5 chairman Manny Pangilinan has also expressed his sentiments, pointing out that their decision to replace “It’s Showtime” with a TVJ show is a “tough choice” and is “purely a business decision.”

He puts emphasis on the amount of help that they give for ABS-CBN, even saying “We’re proud of what we have done for them ‘di ba? We continue to have arrangements with them in terms of their content. We have not forsaken our duty to them.”
