MY LONDON FASHION WEEK AUTUMN/WINTER 2020 ROUND-UP

I kicked off the Fashion Week season by attending London Fashion Week last month, which always seems to come by so quickly. I love seeing the collections of arising emerging talent as well as going to see some of my favorite more established designers such as Paul Costelloe who always puts together a spectacular show and collection.  I was unable to attend everyday as I had a lot on work wise but managed to squeeze in some great shows as summarized below for your reading pleasure

TOBEFRANK & MOLYNEAUX

I have so much to say about this collection so may need to dedicate a whole post on this brand at some point!

This amazing sustainable brand is a collaboration between Frankie Phillips of TOBEFRANK and Amy Molyneux of PPQ and proves you don’t have to compromise on style to save the earth!

The word “sustainability” is used too often and too easily, which has caused it to lose its meaning. TOBEFRANK believe in more than just saying the word “sustainability.” The company passionately believe it’s possible to create a genuinely inspirational fashion brand for people who want to know exactly what they’re wearing and where it comes from. Jerseys, wovens, denim and leather are all developed from creatively sourced sustainable fabric. These include recycled fibre, vegetable dyed cotton, vegetable leather, zero water technology washing and compressed apple juice waste. The company works with state-of-the-art factories in Turkey, which work to the highest standard to help create a collection, which is 90% sustainable using no virgin materials.

Over the years, Frankie Phillips has developed her fantastic collection of lux daywear, as well as her extensive knowledge surrounding the potential of fabrics. She has created satin from seeds, organza in recycled plastics and chrome free leathers.

The brand’s Transparency check list consists of the following:

People – Living wages and development programmes supported by their foundation

Planet – Continually striving to do better. Lead by their goal to be at the helm of innovation including materials, methods of procurement, production and delivery

Profit – Ensuring that all prosper equally through their supply chain. Celebrating the artisans who create our product

AADNEVIK

AADNEVIK is a London based luxury womenswear label by husband and wife Hila and Kristian Aadnevik, whose defining themes are a blend of opulence, sensuality and gloom. This was my second time attending their London fashion Week show which took place in Whitehall Court.

The designers are known for creating a unique luxury concept blend between ready to wear and haute couture as highly visible in their collections.

PAUL COSTELLOE

Irish-American designer Paul Costelloe is one of the most established names in British and Irish fashion and each season I thoroughly look forward to attending his presentations. There’s always great energy and a beautiful setting.

This season the designer showcased a ‘sports-luxe’ theme for the pre and post sport city individual, conscious of their health but with comfort as the main priority.
