Two defensive players from West Virginia Football are lost via the transfer portal.
On Tuesday, two defenders made their departure from the West Virginia football program known. Brayden Dudley, a bandit, and cornerback Montre Miller both declared they had signed up for the transfer portal. With the departure of the two, WVU is now exactly at the 85-player scholarship cap for the 2024 campaign.
After only a year at Morgantown, Miller returns to the portal; in January 2023, he enrolled in the Mountaineers following a protracted stay at Kent State. This past fall, Miller saw a lot of action in WVU’s season opener versus Penn State, earning three solo tackles. Sadly, he was unable to play for the Mountaineers for the remainder of his career due to an injury.
Miller, who entered Kent State as a member of the Class of 2018, will provide a level of veteran experience that is very difficult to find in college football, wherever he lands in the portal. Miller will be entering his seventh year of eligibility. Before moving to WVU, he played for the Golden Flashes for five seasons and used up all of his eligibility. Because of His final year of eligibility for this autumn was preserved despite missing the 2023 season due to an injury.
In contrast, Dudley spent three seasons in Morgantown as a high school recruit for West Virginia University. In 2021–2022, he participated in four games and recorded three tackles. While playing for the Mountaineers, he used up his redshirt season and used up his two years of eligibility.
