In 2024, Detroit will host the NFL draft, which is now in its ninth year of traveling across the United States after departing from its permanent home of New York.

From 1936 to 1965, the draft was conducted in places like Philadelphia and Chicago; however, in 1965, it relocated to the Big Apple for a 50-year period. The draft changed from being a one-day event in 1988 to a two-day affair in 2010 as the years passed and it started to grow. In an attempt to interact with more fans across the country, the extended event evolved from the New York City location in 2015.

The NFL declared in 2022 that Detroit would host the draft. Following a historic 2023 season in which they made it to the NFC Championship Game for the first time since 1991—a 34-31 loss prevented them from winning the Super Bowl—the Detroit Lions

to the 49ers of San Francisco.

With nearly 275,000 spectators on Day 1 of the NFL Draft on Thursday, Detroit set a new record.

The Kansas City Chiefs lost their season opener versus the Lions because wide receiver Kadarius Toney was unable to secure multiple dimes from quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The squad went on a six-game winning streak because to Travis Kelce’s outstanding play in the receiving room, but Kansas City’s offensive woes caught up with them halfway through the regular season.

Despite the bitterly cold weather, the Chiefs managed to qualify for the postseason and had an easy trip to the Super Bowl.

Doug Pederson modified the offensive game plan to allow the Eagles’ succession of quarterbacks to reach their full potential following their 7-9 season finale in 2016. Before falling to the Seattle Seahawks, Philadelphia had a 10-1 record thanks to three passing touchdowns from Russell Wilson.

With 13 wins at the end of the season, the Eagles set a franchise record. Before sustaining a season-ending torn ACL, quarterback Carson Wentz passed for 3,296 yards, which allowed Nick Foles to lead Philadelphia to a Super Bowl triumph over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.

After missing the 2018 playoffs, the Tennessee Titans have not made it to an AFC Championship Game since 2002. However, 2019 marked a turning point for the team. Wide receiver A.J. Brown was selected by the Titans with the 51st overall choice in the 2019 draft. Immediately after, he led Tennessee in receiving yards (1,051) and touchdowns (8).

Moreover, Derrick Henry was unstoppable throughout the Titans’ postseason run, helping them get to the AFC Championship Game but falling short of Kansas City’s bid to the Super Bowl.

Since 2015, the Dallas Cowboys had not won in the playoffs. Despite a difficult defensive start to the season, the offense ignited a five-game victory streak. The Cowboys defeated the Buccaneers 27-20 in Week 16 thanks to Dak Prescott’s 80% completion rate, which also helped them win the NFC East Division title before falling to the Los Angeles Rams in the postseason.
