No January release for Ndidi, Iheanacho

Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca has ruled out a move for duo Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho when the transfer window reopens in January, reports PUNCH Sports Extra.

Both players have a year left on their current contracts and were linked with a number of clubs before the summer transfer window closed.

Ndidi is said to be interested in moving to Nottingham Forest and Fenerbahce while Iheanacho is said to have received offers from Crystal Palace, West Ham and Inter Milan.

However, Maresca sees Ndidi as indispensable and an integral part of his team as he aims to guide the 2016 Premier League winners back to the top flight after they relegated last season.

“The future of these players will be resolved soon,” Maresca replied when asked about the future of Ndidi and Iheanacho.

“They are key players and we will see what happens in January but I don’t see them (Ndidi and Iheanacho) leaving except for international duty.”

Ndidi’s new found form has seen him become an integral part of Maresca’s plans despite being deployed in the No.8 role at the club.

This new role has seen him make seven goal contributions (three goals, four assists) in 14 appearances across all competitions.

While Iheanacho has also been impressive scoring four times and making an assist in 11 league appearances.
Meanwhile, Ndidi was named joint winner alongside Stephy Mavididi for Leicester City’s Goal of the Month for September.

The Nigerian midfielder and his English counterpart won 26 per cent of the votes cast to beat other competitors.
Ndidi’s goal against Southampton is considered the best goal by a Leicester City player in the past month.

The 26-year-old’s goal against the Saints came late in the first half when he put his mark behind him before putting the ball into the net.

Mavididi also scored a goal against Southampton when he ran from Leicester City’s half and beat the scorer before curling the ball into the bottom left corner.
