Travel: Why Keystone Oktoberfest is a Can’t Miss Event

Oktoberfest is an event many people dream of attending. Unfortunately, this isn’t always a reality. Many are unable to travel to Germany to enjoy the festival causing them to miss out on the fun and activities.

Fortunately, there are many cities around the world that celebrate Oktoberfest in their own way. They hire German bands, encourage people to come wearing German costumes and serve German food and drink. Keystone, CO is one of these cities.

Keystone offers an Oktoberfest event that can’t be missed. Read on to find out what it has in store.

About Keystone Oktoberfest

The 2022 Keystone Oktoberfest will be happening on Sept. 3 from 10 AM to 6 PM at the River Run Village in Keystone. It is free to enter. The event is all ages, but you must be 21 or over to drink. It happens rain or shine, no refunds.

Schedule of Event

The schedule of events is as follows:

• The River Run Merchant Tent Sale will be open from 10 AM to 5:30 PM.

• The Keystone Oktoberfest Beer Tents open at 1 PM and stays open until 6. You can buy a commemorative beer stein which comes with three new Belgium beers from the beer garden. Refills are $5. The entire package is $35.

• Kinderfest offering free kid’s activities at the Buffalo Courtyard from 1-6 PM. These include a mobile art studio, a jump in die Fotobox (PhotoBooth), a Kids’ Chalk Corridor, free face painting, and the Cave of Confusion.

• Live music kicks off at 1 PM and features a mix of German and American bands. There are also performances by German polka dancers.

• Kids’ polka instruction is available at the Buffalo Courtyard from 3:45 to 4:15 PM.

• Stein Holding Contests happen on the main stage of River Run Village from 5:00 to 5:45 PM and include a Kids’ Root Beer Hoisting Contest, a Women’s Stein Hoisting Contest, and a Men’s Stein Hoisting Contest.

Vendors

The festival will feature a variety of food and merchandise vendors that are soon to be announced. Guests will have the opportunity to shop at the merchant tent sale as well as at the shops located on the grounds.

Things to Do in Keystone, CO

Here are some things you can do in Keystone, CO when you’re not enjoying Oktoberfest:

• Ice Skate at Dercum Square or Keystone Lake.

• Take a Mountaintop Family Adventure in an enclosed truck sized cab or gondola to enjoy the city’s scenic views.

• Boat at Keystone Lake which offers paddle boats, stand-up paddleboards, kayaks, and canoes.

• Bike at Keystone Bike Park offering hiking, biking, gondola rides and skiing in the winter.

• Mountain Yoga: If you enjoy yoga, you’ll be able to partake in a whole new way. Mountain Service Center offers a memorable group experience.

• Horseback Riding: Keystone Stables offers horseback riding that will take you through a scenic journey of the city.

• Fishing: Dillon Reservoir is an ideal fishing destination allowing you to take a boat out on the lake.

• Off Roading: Daring outdoor adventurers may consider off roading in the Keystone Mountains and up Keystone Gulch.

• Shopping: Main St. at River Run Village offers a wide variety of shops and restaurants.

• Keystone Spa: The Keystone Spa is a great place to relax.
