Decorating: Why LED Lights are the Way to Go When You’re Lighting Things Up for the Holiday Season

Why LED Lights are the Way to Go When You’re Lighting Things Up for the Holiday Season

Many holiday decorations incorporate lights. If you’re looking for some to add to your design, LED is the way to go. Here are some reasons why you’ll want to include them this year.

They Save Money

LED lights may be more expensive than other types of lights, but they last longer and save energy. They will end up costing you less in the long run.

They are Cool to the Touch

LED lights do not produce heat, so they are cool to the touch. This makes them the ideal choice if you have little kids and pets running around.

They Work Well in cold Temperatures

Incandescent lights can burst when they get cold, but LED lights will hold up just fine. This makes them a great option for outdoor lighting in cold climates.

You Can Connect More Lights to Fewer Outlets

In most instances, you will be able to connect eight to ten times more mini-LED light strings end to end while using only one outlet as compared to other types of lighting. Most traditional Christmas mini-lights will only allow you to connect four to five sets end to end. With LED mini string lights, you may be able to string 40 or 50 together depending on the light count.

You Can Replace Single Bulbs

If one of the LED lights in your string fails, no problem. Replacement Bulbs are available for many types of LED string lights.

A Variety is Available

LED Christmas lights are available in warm or cool white light tones. The warm lights give off a soft glow making them a good choice for Christmas trees. The cool bulbs have more of a snow-like tone making them an ideal choice for the outdoors.

Durability

We talked about how LED bulbs last longer than other types of bulbs. But how much longer do they last? Tests have shown that they can stay lit for close to 4,000 hours while standard light bulbs will burn out in less than half that time.

Blue LED Lights Can Make You Sick

While LED lights provide several benefits, you’ll want to beware of the blue ones. They can mess with your Circadian rhythm causing a lack of sleep with can lead to other physical ailments. Some have claimed that they can also cause nausea and headaches.

LED lights are a money-saving choice for holiday lights. They are also safer and more pleasing to the eye. Will you be including them in this year’s design?
