How to Overcome Fear of Delegation: You Don’t Have to Do It Yourself

Delegation isn’t easy, but it is a hurdle we have to jump over to embrace ease and more time on the other side.

Not only is it possible, but it’s necessary to Thrive as a working mom. And I want you to thrive because when you thrive, your families are happier, your places of work are more profitable and your communities do better.

So let’s talk about how to overcome the fear of delegation.

When it comes to delegation, the first thing you have to do is to make a choice to delegate, and that can be really hard.

When I was a new mom, I had this idea that stopped me from delegating. Now that I look back, it sounds silly and superficial, but at that time, it was very real for me.

The barrier to delegation that I had to overcome was the idea that no one is going to do things as I do, and if no one can do it as I do, then what’s the point of delegating in the first place?

I now know that that is not the right reason to not delegate, so if you feel the same thing that I used to, you have to get over that mindset.

Delegation isn’t easy, but it is possible.

When you jump over that hurdle, you’re going to free yourself up and embrace the opportunity to thrive.

The way to get over that mindset is to focus on what Outcome you really need.

What is the outcome that you need? What is it that you’re looking for? It doesn’t really matter if someone doesn’t do it like you, as long as you get the outcome you want.

Let’s say making the bed. Maybe they’re not gonna make it with hospital corners, but they are going to make it and that’s what really matters: Having a comfortable place to sleep at night and something that looks neat throughout the day.

Maybe someone’s not going to put together that presentation exactly as you would, but they’re going to get all the content there and it’s going to be error-free and it’s going to get the point across, and that could be enough.

Focus on the outcome, instead of the process.

Take Action

Focus on the outcome instead of the process.

Be able to articulate that outcome so that they can deliver it. You’re going to be one step closer to thriving in life.
